Shepard and Anderson were clearly not in full armor either - I imagine this is straight from the trial, so it's unlikely any of them would have been wearing it.

I await further information.

Holy crap. If this means Ashley was trying to pull a Mia Fey my head will explode.

Eh...I've got no problem if that was a Normandy casual type outfit, not unlike how she and Kaiden had in ME1 out of armor. But if thats her new combat look? The person who's supposed to be all no frills, soldier first? In a skin tight catsuit, cleavage exposed, with high heels and hair flopping in her face?

What I'm more concerned about is trying to figure out who the person on Shepard's right(our left) is.

I think we all have to remember that Ashley is a Spectre now. Spectres aren't bound by rules like Alliance military. Maybe Ashley just decided to take the opportunity to let her hair down a little - literally and figuratively.

Anyway, whatever. I just still think she looks good, though I'm no drooling fan or anything.

errr without seeing this thread i had posted my opinion on this topic in the "vega reveal" thread so... i guess i'll just voice opinion...in a song....lol jk i'll just copy& paste STARTING NOW!! i think it's safe for myself to assume that they were caught off guard. They didn't know the exact date of invasion did they? i don't remember hearing that. Ashley is a renouned hardass for protocal "would you kiss anyone i asked you too?" "That depends sir, if you asked me to kiss a superior officer that would be a (illegal command? i forgot what she said) i would be required to strip you of your rank & relieve you of command....sir" anyone also notice Shep is also out of armor? and i like to speculate Vega ( if that is indeed whom the soldier in the trailer is) was on duty at the time of the attack, or if he is a specter like someone else said he is wearing a specter uniform ( i didn't really read up on Vega before so i dunno if he is) then maybe he is the ME3 Nihlus...hopefully without the death part.

Maybe she is looking good, but somebody forgets that she is a soldier, not model. There must be alt app medium or heavy armor, I just cant imagine soldier running in this type of "armor" like she is wearing on these pictures. That would be ridiculous.

Now if only she would wear some proper armor instead of a rubber suit.

To be fair, her suit is no more or less armor-y than the clothes shepard is wearing. I wouldn't be surprised if femsheps starting outfit is very similar.

Once again, the outfit she is wearing in the video, if you pay close attention, is VERY similar to shepards outfit in the same video with a little bit of fanservicey cleaveage.

And I thought that her being ugly was one of the biggest reasons people didn't like her in the first game, and a small part of the reason people hated her in the second.

Making the pants look like thigh high boot was a little unneccessary but at least the heel of her shoes aren't retarded like mirandas were. you could concievabley wear those in a combat situation and not break an ankle.

Hmmm, I have to agree with critics here.

On this picture and in that scene, Ashley looks kind of stiff IMO - especially her legs. Now that's kind of funny, because in a costume like that, she actually is supposed to move that way. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie] The problem is, that girls that wear these types of costumes (booth babes, female moderators / announcers, fashion models) are usually not required to perform any difficult moves...  That is probably not the case here, since she is supposed to be a soldier / spectre.

So yes,  Ashley's current costume (model), in combination with her realistically clumsy moves - animations, makes her a little bit painful to watch. Especially in contrast with both naturally looking and naturally moving Shepard.

Yeah, it's really not that similar to Shepard's. Shepard is wearing a black -- probably bulletproof -- heavily-padded vest, like a security officer.
Ashley is wearing... I dunno WTF she's wearing. :( It looks like there are metal medallions attached to her shoulders, thighs, and... other places, and the rest of it looks almost like a carbon copy of Miranda's catsuit, with different textures applied.

As to her being ugly: improved graphics and a slightly less formal hair-do would certainly make her look sexier. Heavy armor doesn't make a female character look ugly (isn't the main character from Metroid Prime a woman? How many people have fantasized about her?).

And the point is that... there's no point to wearing high heels in combat. Which is... pretty much the point. ^_^

Its mostly just how blatantly sexualized they seemingly tried to make her look for being a soldier. I mean, it almost looks like they just popped her head onto Miranda's body and recolored the outfit.

It just seems very out of character to see her looking all sexed up like that going off of her personality in prior games and makes it seem like second rate pandering to teenage boys. I just hope she actually has some proper armor in the actual gameplay and the stripper suit is just her casual look on the Normandy.

Yeah, and I know that the artists probably worked hard on it to try to find a way to balance it between being practical and sexy, but... it just looks like they started off on the wrong track, and ended up on the wrong track. It just looks like Miranda 2.0, to be blatantly and truthfully and transparently obvious. :(

I'd have a hard time not having a double-take if I saw Miranda and Ashley side-by-side, the characters just look like they're ripoffs of one another.

If you continue to watch the video you realize that when she is not bent over arse to the camera, the front of her uniform is the same type of thick padding material shepard is wearing.

With and admittedly pointless, but not taseless bit of cleavage. It looks as if they are trying to make her sexier without totally ruining her badass military chick image and went just a touch too far in the sexy direction. Something as simple as getting rid of the white strips at tops of her thighs would make her look more natural.

What people have to remember here is that Ashley is no longer a Soldier/Marine. She is a Spectre. Essentially a secret police and her suit looks like it can stop bullets more efficiently that the dark blue jacket most police officers wear. In addition the Reaper attack was quick and unexpected, most likely not allowing her to change since neither Anderson nor Shepard are in armor also.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't speculate, but I'm merely stating to wait until we get a new photo/video of her in actual combat as an actual squadmate before calling foul play.

I'm still optimistic that she was wearing the more casual outfit for the trial when **** hit the fan, and will promptly grab a full suit from the Normandy armory right after the escape.

Wouldn't she be both Marine and Spectre though, like Shepard was?

I tend to agree with others about it not being her final armor.  If it did take place at/after the trial, then maybe it means she was at the trial as a spectator or witness.  Even a Spectre wouldn't (or couldn't?) go into a military courtroom in full armor and packing every gun they own.

Reserving judgment until later on.

All is well as long as I can do the same with my Shepard.

As for Ashley, I couldn't care less, she's gonna be dead anyway, never makes it past Virmire. Actually, from now on, any female squad mates with nicer hair or armor than my Shepard, I'm killing them. (Tali, sweetheart, you better be ugly). :P
Now, Kaidan on the other hand... that piece of Spectre(?) meat is on point! Looking forward to seeing an old friend... Image IPB

I'm pretty sure shepard isn't wearing his armor. People are comparing Ash to what shepard is wearing saying "she's wearing more armor than him!!"

it looks like he just broke out of the trial and Anderson was helping him -- so he is wearing civilian clothes..obviously not the armor.

As I said earlier, maybe she's just taking the opportunity of being a Spectre to let her hair down a bit...

...or maybe she's brainwashed?

Honestly? I don't know if the same rules that applied to Shepard applies to Ashley. Technically Shepard had to play Devil's Advocate between the Alliance and the Council since the humans were never really part of the Council. Now that they are maybe Ashley is Anderson/Udina's little grim reaper? Maybe the Alliance had given her to the council more permanently in trust? Maybe she really isn't part of the Alliance and is only called Operative Chief for the same reason that retired veterans are called by their old ranks, out of respect. Who knows.

I, like you, will reserve judgement until I have indisputable proof in front of me^_^

They've decided Ashley wasn't sexy, cool or 'badass' enough in the "I value my looks more than my life" kind of way they seem to think defines it, and totally changed her character leaving nothing of the original me1 Ashley to be found!!! :o:blink::(:crying:

... ok perhaps that's being a bit melodramatic based on 3 seconds of video. But still.
