Neither of which was my point. I made a rash judgement based on limited information. I also could of added the history of BioWare 's affinity for large bald men (Minsc) and could of been convinced and likely convinced others that this was going to end up the default model.
Which is the exact thing you are doing RIGHT NOW.
So I should instead make the assumption that everything will be fine? Sorry, but Bioware isn't some sort of infallible Development God to me. I will question what they do, and how they do it. I'm not in the habit of giving anyone the benefit of the doubt.
Also I think we have plenty of information to indicate
this will be Ashley's new look. We saw an early concept of her in Game Informer wearing the outfit. We've seen her in-game wearing the same outfit. Heck there's now even an avatar available of her in that outfit. How much do you think it's going to change? Also an even further indication they are doing things the same way again is the Collector's Edition is going to have an appearence pack. What do you think that means? To me it most likely means
every squadmate character will be stuck in the same "armor" for the majority of ME3 and if you want new Armors you gotta buy the DLC! Maybe you'll have 3 color schemes to choose from this time though, wowzers! Ashley's armor can be recolored Blue, Red, or Purple! That's some real in-depth customization swapping the color palette! Isn't this exactly what everyone hated about ME1? That all the armor was the same just in a different color?
It's funny that you used the picture on the back of the ME1 cover for apparently noting the difference Shepard took on, cause it honestly barely changed at all. So why should I find it reassuring that character design changes so little if at all, if I don't like how Ashley looks?
This is Ashley's new look and I'm going to guess it's Bioware's intention that it be permanent as well.
Again I have no issue over Ashley's
actual character yet, although at the same time I don't find her new look very reassuring.
My issue is simply that it looks stupid. It's stupid since you need some kind of plating or thick material to stop bullets passing thru shields, the mesh will provide some proctection, but it is there for other purposes mostly (Medigel). Shepard wears plating, Garrus's entire suit is plated, Kaidan wears plating, James wears plating, even Liara has some plating. Ashley has none. Zip. Nadda. She must have some state of the art armor then. Odd that none of the rest crew is using it? I mean why isn't Shepard using Ashley's super-light
super-protective armor? Paint it black give it an N7 logo and you're set.
In comparison to the rest of the crew Ashley seems woefully out of place.
My problem is Bioware is once again failing to give squadmates proper armor and once again are going for the "style over substance" approach.
Look if you think Ashley looks sexier now and don't really care what she's wearing, that's fine. But don't begrudge those of who think it's tacky because of that. Seems to me that the people arguing for it would rather it not change simply so Ashley can remain "hot". And I can understand that a little bit, but I have yet to see compelling evidence or reason why Ashley couldn't wear armor more akin to FemShep and not be "sexy".
