I got a point:

Casey Hudson said in one of the E3 videos on Bioware Pulse that you will meet characters as they were when the trial started.

It could possibly be that for that part of the game, Ashely wears the outfit because of a mission she just got done with or possibly for the trial, like someone said before in this thread.

We don't know how her outift might possibly change afterwards. It could also be that she changes how she wears it based on whether she's going casual/needs to seduce or get someone's attention for one reason or another or even if she's getting ready for battle.

I know no one wants to hear it, but in a world with shield technology I fail to see the purpose for "proper battle attire".

I just checked Christina Norman's tweet wall, and she says that shield technology is the primary defense in the world of Mass Effect.

That still wont stop a bullet Bioware, bring armor back in Mass Effect 4!

I am just sayin'...haha

Armor is not what stops the bullets. Kinetic Barrier stops the bullets. Or did you see an armor bar after your shields drop in either of games? No. After your shields drop, all that remains is the health bar. So armor is just for looks.
A combat helmet won't stop a bullet, It's just against shrapnels, and such. Why would a thick chestplate stop a mass accelerated piece of metal?

Her boot is phased into the ship.
also i don't think you have a clear understanding what cleavage is. Cleavage is the gap between a woman's breasts. Ash is just wearing her collar open.

Well i am sure that you knew what i meant.
Armor is still better than spandex, but Bioware is just trying to make it more and more sexual i geuss.
Its just funny really.

My eyes are fine. You might want to try posting images that aren't scaled up to maximum blur. Having a suit unzipped below the chin and a blurry image of what seem to be reinforced heels on her boots do not make a convinving argument. But whatever. It's obvious you're starting with the premise and working backward to find anything that bolsters your opinion.

Those all images all what we have so far. I'd gladly discussed more detailed images.

I'm also pretty sure that by page 68 or so all of this has already been
argued to death, and we're both merely repeating what has been said
before.

Oh it is, but it's not going to slow down until Bioware show pictures of naked Miranda in combat.

"All we have so far" isn't really building a case for Ashley being a galactic sex-kitten in ME3.

Not that she wasn't already.

It's funny because it's mostly spandex from the first game, but let's not allow that to dilute our rage.

Well no, in the first game all of the characters were wearing some type of logical body armor, now look at most of the new female & male characters from the second. I expect the outfits to be much more pathetic and or skimpy in the final game...thats all i am gonna say.:-)

Ugh, this doesn't ruin the game for me, but it does lessen my enthusiasm for seeing Ashley again. Seems like females are not allowed to wear heavy armor anymore, especially the one character who MADE FUN of such suits.

This..and the hair is ridiculous considering she's an elite soldier, not a model or a barbie.

You do realize women in the armed services can have long hair right, its just while in uniform it must be kept above the shoulder. Its not like her hair is down to her ass or anything. I wouldn't get all bent out of shape because they decided to let Ashley's hair down, after all can't someone change their apperance over time. Maybe she heard Shep was coming back to Earth and wanted to sexy herself up for him.

Nohvar, dont try ever to take away a persons free will to express himself, if you want to suck to the devs then go ahead, just remember that not all share your point of view.

Let me see if I understand this, he insults a person I doubt he's ever met. I call him out on it, and you accuse me of trying to take away his right to voice an opinin, by telling me I can't voice mine?

That sound about right?

I stated, I don't care if you, or anyone else dislikes the new design, but I can not stand when people start slining about insults like that poster did. It dosen't help the discussion, it dosen't support their views, or help in trying to change something. If I were the person who'd designed Ashley's new look I'd stop paying attention to anything that poster said once the insult was used. Constructive criticism is fine, that helps, insults not so much.

Sure because Ash couldn't possible change and grow as a person. I mean it's impossible for her to gain new skills and perspectives that might lead her to ditch heavy armor for something lighter, and more flexible.  [/sarcasm]

Hey, Kaidan wore light armor is ME - what was he wearing in ME2? Medium armor. What about ME3? Heavy armor. Why? Because its clearly superior to don a full suit of thick, protective armor than run around fighting enemies witha v-neck and spandex.

So the only possible explanation for Kaiden's armor change is that Heavy armor is superior in all situations? It's not possible that some other factor has played into Kaiden using different armor? I mean if Ashley can decide to use lighter armor to take advantage of her physical superiority then it's not at all possible that kaiden picked heavier armor because it works well with his biotics? With heavy armor and biotics Kaiden might be able to turn himself into a bipedal tank. Ashley dosen't have Biotics, she can't afford to be slow cause, or just stand their and take hit after hit. She has to be able to move, to shift from cover to cover, to get in fast, and be able to strike hard when up close. If any enemy get's close to kaiden he can use Biotics to send them flying.

Ashley has to float like a butterfly, and sting like a bee.

I won't be surprised if it does.

She wouldn't be the first companion to get a sudden split personality change. Also, her original writer left Bioware.

You keep referencing this pic as if it means something for your argument.  You don't see how the chest appears to be covered by an ablative material?  Notice the parts that allow for mobility: inside the elbow, at the waist, and below the rib cage leading to the crotch.

What people are calling Ashley's armor in ME3 looks nothing like the image posted.  Just about every single armor piece follows that design in ME so please stop acting like the above image in any way shores up your argument.

In fact I'll even concede that there are armors in ME that don't look like they offer much protection, but the Hydra armor is by far the worst type to use to defend your argument.  Even the light armor pictured there looks like it protects better than the light Colossus armor and that still has what looks to be ablative surfaces.

I'm glad BioWare is taking a stand on this issue and ignoring the ridiculous "everyone has to be buried in carbon nanotubes or else this game with faster-than-light travel and force fields isn't realistic!" crowd.

People are mad because there aint no continuation between the sequels.
ME went from sci-fi to sci-fantasy, its changed the core audience to an other demographic, of course we are pissed !

New armor has an ablative covering over the chest that's just as flexible looking as the armor in the picture.

So Ashley is using custom made Armor in ME 3? Hmmm plausible, since she's a Spectre I imagine she'd have the resources to design something she specifically wanted for her new job and all it entails.

I'm a fan of sci-fi and I don't have any problems with what I've seen. Now even if I were angry, I'd like to think that I'd not resort to insulting someone I never met just because I dislike a piece of armor. Especailly when i don't know why this armor was made to look a particular way, or how the character whose wearing it has grown in the years since I last saw them.

This is ridiculous. 69 pages of arguing over a character change and the sad part is that when one side wins the argument (usually those in support of the new design or recommending waiting for more info) a whole new group of idiots who haven't read the thread immediately go to page 69 and put their ill-advised and highly repetitive post starting the cycles anew.

I know for a fact Nohvarr has been arguing this since the thread started using logic and most of the people he's argued with have backed down, but more and more people keep popping up.

I've even seen people whine about Miranda walking around with cleavage in ME2. It seems much like "catsuit" the word has lost its meaning to these people. Just something they repeat because they think it helps their case.

In my opinion the issue is at rest. Bioware will not compromise their artistic vision on this, straight from their own mouth. It's either time to look at the positive in the new armor, or to crawl into a hole and stew about it. But continuing to escalate the rhetoric as I've seen over the last few pages makes you look absolutely terrible. It's getting out of hand over such a small thing.
