Ashley no longer exists even if you saved her.

What people have to remember here is that Ashley is no longer a Soldier/Marine. She is a Spectre. Essentially a secret police and her suit looks like it can stop bullets more efficiently that the dark blue jacket most police officers wear. In addition the Reaper attack was quick and unexpected, most likely not allowing her to change since neither Anderson nor Shepard are in armor also.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't speculate, but I'm merely stating to wait until we get a new photo/video of her in actual combat as an actual squadmate before calling foul play.
I'd think that her background as a soldierly, hardened, practical and up-front marine type would lead to her continuing in that way as a Spectre, rather than letting her training, her standards, her style, etc. go out the window and replacing them with a femme-fatale Bond Girl theme. Everything that we've heard about the Spectres seems to imply that they generally come from a strict military background.
If I'd grown accustomed to heavy armor, and I saw it as an effective means of defending myself, I would probably use it outside the military as well in heavy combat situations as well (if I was planning on driving through Afghanistan, then yeah). I mean, why do paintballers use padding and goggles? Because they're SWAT?
I'm also hoping that it's just her casual attire, though I'm not expecting a pleasant surprise tbh.

Ashley looks so much better in ME3. Love her new suit.
You already had Miranda. It's people like you that caused Bioware to ruin Ashley.
What's worse is that Bioware put Kaiden in Heavy Armor and Ashley only gets a stupid Catsuit.
Had children like you that only like a female character when they're showing off their boobs.

"I'm an Alliance soldier. It's in my blood"
"Kaidan: Those Asari commandos are
impressive. Lightly armored, but their speed more than makes up for it.
Ashley: Unless that speed
lets them outrun bullets I'm more inclined to stick with nice solid armor and a big gun
Kaidan: Point taken.
Soldier Shepard also wore nice solid armor while being a Spectre.
Being caught unexpected and not being fully suited up is a possibiity, but a long shot

Retcon.
Ashley was never a Soldier. No, her ME3 background is now that of a stupid bimbo that's dieing for some hot Shepard Meat.

Personally I love the Joanna Dark vibe I get from the armor as well, if that has to go down as a guilty pleasure so be it.

Thank you Intreped, I said she looked similar to the heronie from perfect dark, and couldnt remember her name.

That seems to be where they are pulling the design from and why I feel justified in being worried at the armor treatment we might be getting.
And yeah Kaidan in heavy armor is completely ridiculous. WHY? He's a damn biotic sentinel! Like Jacob he doesn't need heavy gear..... I REALLY hope it's all not really as contradictory as it all seems right now.

I find it amusing some seem to have such a problem with the idea of a Woman doing battle with long hair. The suit I can sorta understand (although we really havn't gotten a good look at it yet and it could easily be light armor, miles apart from Miranda's skintight heels) but the hair? Really? She wasn't born with her hair in a bun and if she is a Spectre she can wear it however the hell she wants.

You don't know a thing.
We don't care if Miranda does it so much, just as long as she wears appropiate gear in Space with no oxygen and stuff, but Ashley doing this goes against her very character.
Go replay ME1. Maybe you'll learn something.

Haters are hypocrites. They hated on Ashley and refused to learn her character. Now that Ashley is Miranda 2.0 they want her just because she's a sex object like Miranda now.
Ergo Bioware gave many Ashley fans the bird and said they would retcon her into a sex object to appease the haters.

i mean its impossible for characters to have multiple outfits right?
maybe a standard uniform that oh, i dunno, you'd wear to shepards trial before all hell broke loose? maybe? and you didnt have time to change into full combat gear? right?
nah thats impossible...
until you know more and have seen her in more than ONE super brief scene, please stop overreacting.

She can hardly see!
Ashley wouldn't care more about how her hair looks than being able to see who you're trying to shoot and who's trying to shoot you!

Funny thing is, she's looking down from a ship, through the scope of her rifle. If her hair is long, it will form a curtain when you look down like that, but nothing that a tuck behind the ear won't fix. And it's not an impenetrable curtain at that; you can see some things in peripheral through natural bunching of the strands, etc. It's not optimal, but it's not a blinder either. Add the single eye looking through her scope, and being on a ship so peripheral isn't life or death, and it's not the awful character assassination people fear.
Ashley's always had long hair. The only way to wear your hair in a bun is to have long hair to start. Maybe she got tired of wearing it tightly - it can cause hair to break from the follicle if you keep your hair tied back all the time.
