Bioware kind of made an promise to unite the fans of ME,

So far so good, but no matter what they do, not everyone will be pleased. So think of it as promising to 'try' and unite all the fans

as previously stated people would buy ME3 no matter how Ashley looked, that sayd was it wise to upset with this new trivious outfitt ?

Because Ashley's gone through two years of character development not reflected by her previous incarnation

We are mad at Bioware who let us down once again, and we are calling them out to right this wrong.

So it's wrong for a person to change, and grow? Ashley and Kaiden should've been frozen in carbonite for two years?

Concluson: let us not fight each other, ME2 fans wouldnt care how Ashley looked, but us the ME1 fans would, so why is the question, and that question is directed to Bioware.

To get the answer to that burning question and more, buy Mass Effect 3

It should be added that she is lead gameplay designer, not character/costume/artistic designer. She has no bearing on character design and the people harrassing her over it are terrible for doing such. The amount of vitriole and hate she's getting from these "fans" is ridiculous.

Is she being harrassed on twitter?

Tip for fans: embrace change, previous games don't go away but new games bring new possibilities.
Particularly when all you see is a frame of video, or a side comment, describing change remember we are committed to excellence!

You can give a character's appearance more personality without resorting to gender stereotypes.

The only people gender stereotyping so far are the ones insisting Ashley has to dress a certain way or she can't be taken seriously as a soldier.

LOL...I have a 360 slim and for the record I don't like ME being on the playstation 3 but thats a whole nother argument.

Suffice to say this. I bought Mass Effect 1 on DAY 1. Collectors Edition.

I bought Mass Effect 2 CE at the midnight opening.

I love this universe and I love the characters within. As a fan of both games I see no problem with how Ashley Williams looks in ME3.

As another person said screaming and crying like a banshee more than half a year before the game comes out will not amount to anything. If anything it will make Bioware more determined to stick their decisions.

I'd worry more about

1) Plot Conclusion
2) Game bugs
3) Balance of game genres (RPB elements?)

But no this thread will probably go on day and night for the next 1,000 haha.

Oh big time. I'm trying to send her a lot of messages of support so she
doesn't just cancel her account or something; I couldn't deal with what
she's dealing with.

Wow. It's really pathetic that people are taking the twitter-stalking to such a degree that Mrs. Norman (it is Mrs. now, right?) has to make such statements.

I find it pretty sad that people are harassing the Lead GAMEPLAY Designer over outfits.

Shouting down the wrong hole, folks.

This forum is the only place I've ever heard of anyone being upset about it, and this forum whines about everything.

Then you don't visit large boards. There are threads on almost every big one (gamefaq etc...)

You overestimate how many people are upset by this. This forum is the only place I've ever heard of anyone being upset about it, and this forum whines about everything. Everyone else I've heard from on other forums and in person love it.

Well, I've seen several threads on Gamespot and The Escapist Magazine forums that have had plenty of people who disliked the outfit. I found them with just a quick Google check, too.

Then again, most people think that Ashley's a b**** and an extreme racist. That's pretty telling of how much the majority of people actually know about her character.

@AzureVanguard - You keep saying that you don't care, that it's not your concern and that you're done and yet you keep posting?
Understand that people feel differently to you. People who actually cared about Ash from the get go and don't have the sentiment of "She so sexy, I would pounce on her now!"

It's isn't a vital issue but the fact is, people can and should be allowed to voice their opinions if they aren't too pleased. As you can see ITT.

Lol cuz the absolutely panic infused responses I'm seeing are just hilarious and sucking me in big time. I simply wanted to voice my pleasant surprise at how different she looks (for the better).

I think the same about Kaidan too (as evidence by avatar pic). He looks a lot sexier than he did in ME1.

Call me crazy but looking good shows a improvement in the character model from the previous game and it doesn't automatically preclude said character being being deep and have a complex personality.

As long as she's still a tough woman with a love of poetry I'm fine with the cosmetic changes. If it moves into the realm of personality changes I'll be disappointed.

lol, just lol

I bet she'd get more annoyed if she knew some random person who sends her messages of support thinks they know what kind of a weekend she's having.

I expect people on this forum to act like adults an not descend to such insults.

People are mad because there aint no continuation between the sequels.
ME went from sci-fi to sci-fantasy, its changed the core audience to an other demographic, of course we are pissed !

I'm a fan of sci-fi and I don't have any problems with what I've seen. Now even if I were angry, I'd like to think that I'd not resort to insulting someone I never met just because I dislike a piece of armor. Especailly when i don't know why this armor was made to look a particular way, or how the character whose wearing it has grown in the years since I last saw them.

I do agree that when people are rude it pretty much destroys any interest in reading what they have to say.

But I disagree with the idea that someone we haven't seen in years would change so much that we don't recognize them.  I have friends I don't see but once every 5 or 6 years and their values have been consistant and while I have changed over the years, I still have the same core beliefs I had at 29.

BioWare is going to do what they want and if they want to change her they will.  I just hope she is still recognizable and I hope they give us more than one armor option.

So they are practicaly saying this "Ashley is now **** who wants to look like Miranda. Deal with it, her whoring around in this ridiculous outfit is artistic vision."

This "artistic" vision caused no helmet toogle in ME2.
This "artistic" vision caused breather masks and exposed skin in space in ME2.
This "artistic" vision caused juvenile fanservice in ME2.

Make your own opinions about it...

I wonder if she still believes in God and if she will be bisexual.

Amen.  The people who are okay with the change don't think it necesitates a massive change of personality.
