Sorry, but I cannot take anyone seriously who calls people that strongly dislike the new outfits a 'troll', 'whiner' or 'pathetic' seriously.

That Mrs. Norman got in the crossfire is unfortunate though.

Comes with the package. Deal with it. Don't want to get harrassed on Twitter? Don't use Twitter.

Not that I condone with people tweet to her. Oh hell, no. She's isn't even responsible for it.

Concluson: let us not fight each other, ME2 fans wouldnt care how Ashley looked, but us the ME1 fans would, so why is the question, and that question is directed to Bioware.

You overestimate how many people are upset by this. This forum is the only place I've ever heard of anyone being upset about it, and this forum whines about everything. Everyone else I've heard from on other forums and in person love it.

Well, I've seen several threads on Gamespot and The Escapist Magazine forums that have had plenty of people who disliked the outfit. I found them with just a quick Google check, too.

Then again, most people think that Ashley's a b**** and an extreme racist. That's pretty telling of how much the majority of people actually know about her character.

Maybe because she was all those things in Mass Effect 1.  I couldn't stand her at all. She pretty much was a racist in all her elevator conversations with Garras, Tali, Liara, and Wrex.  She was ignorant for like 95% of the time and the only way to make her unignorant was if you were male and chose to romance her (which I've only done 1 time out fo 5 male shepards).

And she was a b**** because of the way she treated Liara and even other characters throughout the game. The whole love confrontation scene provides a perfect example of why some people practically despise the character.

I hope her attitude has improved for the better in ME3 otherwise i think her being a Spectre is a huge joke (especially if the council is alive in your ME Universe).

But that's all I have to say on that subject. I'm not agains people being pro humanity but her utter disrespect and complete disregard for the other squad members was just insulting to me.

Curved spine to enhance chest and butt. Niccccce. I totally think that is exactly how soldiers are taught to fire their assault rifles at the military academy. I see male soldiers doing that all the time.

Now we're going to animations? Don't make me dig up posts from devs talking about the libraries of generic animations they have stockpiled and draw from for each cinematic sequence. It's much more likely what you see there is generic 'female_assaultrifle_attack_2' than "Ashley_shows_off_TnA_while_shooting_3'.

If you want to talk about female animations that's a whole other thread, but I seriously doubt they've gone and mo-capped Ashley specifically

I certainly hope so. That pic is from a cutscene, so hopefully it won't be that bad in actual gameplay. Meanwhile, allow me to express concern.

And the people who are bugging Christina Norman on twitter should stop right now. If someone else has already tweeted on this topic, there's no need to tweet it again, and again, and again. She's already aware of this thread. Don't be such a pest.

Get the joke? Gameplay? Outfits? Yeah, it makes no sense.

As Christina Norman explained, you guys are mistaken in your ideas about the lore of armor/shields. Shields are the primary battlefield protection. With faster than light projectiles, ceramic plating isn't going to hold up very much. I've heard "nuh uh!" about a million times, but that doesn't change the fact.

This would be fine if everyone, male and female human soldiers were wearing it.  They aren't.  So until they are it's just a line they are giving us and has no basis in "fact" because if it was superior everyone would be wearing it.

The only way this outfit works for me, is if, as somone mentioned previously, she wore this to the trial and the action started.  This would be an idea I like and makes sense.

Wasn’t most of the elevator banter static? Meaning that no matter who you had in your party, it would be the same conversation? I remember a conversation about Tali and the geth and both Kaidan and Ashley had the conversation with her about it.
I didn’t see her treat anyone badly. Image IPB

Then you might want to read this-

LPPrince wrote...

Well, in all actuality she isn't a racist nor a bigot.

Talk to her long enough instead of basing opinions on a few misconstrued statements and you find out that she doesn't hate aliens(she might not like them too much though) but that due to her family effectively being thrown in the dirt after her grandfather surrendering in the First Contact War, she feels we need to put more trust in ourselves than aliens.

Put it this way-

You've got a friend and a stranger who can drive you somewhere. You've known your friend for a long time and he's trustworthy, while obviously you have no clue who the stranger is. Who do you trust more?

Her argument is that we need to put more trust in our friend rather than the stranger. Humans, over aliens. Because if we put too much faith in them, they could easily throw us to the dogs what with us being the new guys on the block.

Makes perfect sense. But through talking with her, you can change her views. Make her realize that she should direct some of that lack of trust at humanity since it was humans who made her family look bad after the First Contact War. Humans decided that her family should be somewhat "blacklisted". Humans look down on her.

And then? She not only lightens up, but she comes to trust aliens more. To the point where she suggests saving the Council when the Destiny Ascension is under attack.

As for her, "I don't like aliens, but I'll never join Cerberus" comment in ME2, I think the first half of that was just bad.

That's the fault of the writers, not her. Once changing her views in ME1, she shouldn't of said that. As for not joining Cerberus, she still views them as a Pro-Humanity group that wants all others(in other words, aliens) put down.

She'll never join them. Why? Because she knows that many in Cerberus are racists. She also slams Charles Saracino towards the end of ME1 when he tries to get Commander Shepard to back him for becoming leader of the Terra Firma party. Why?

Because she feels Terra Firma is a group for racists. If she were a true racist, she'd of jumped on Cerberus and Terra Firma's bandwagons at the first opportunity. She didn't.

She knows that racism is wrong. She knows that wanting to slaughter people because they aren't human is evil.

She'll never do it. BUT-

She hasn't been exposed to aliens much at all. Doesn't know how to react to them, doesn't know who to trust and not trust, and is still in sort of a limbo state.

Its up to Shepard to make her see that she can in fact trust the other races. Its up to Shepard to make her see that aliens aren't going to stab us in the back at the first opportunity.

She's got built in trust issues due to a lot of understandable factors. Its hard to kick what's ingrained into your mind from a young age.

But Shepard can do it. Shepard can make her finally release all those pent up trust issues.

That's what Ashley fans are doing. That's what we're trying to do. That's what we can hopefully accomplish in ME3.

In ME1, we got to make her see that. In ME2, we don't know what went wrong(lore wise). In ME3, its finally time to get Ashley to realize that we're all on the same team no matter what planet we were born on and we can trust them just as much as we can trust our neighbors here on Earth.

That's why we don't hate her. That's why we don't call her a racist or a bigot.

She's a victim. She needs help. And we're going to give her the help she needs.

Okay, I guess giving my opinion on the matter who don't do that much harm.

Her armour looks at least better than the catsuit Lawson was wearing. And for someone who was really not that into Miranda's outfit, I can accept this as a reasonable compromise between realism and coolness/hotness/going for horny men/whatever.
I may change my mind one way or the other when the game's out and I can actually see it properly.

EDIT: after reading iakus' post I have to agree that this look doesn't really suit Williams' character. It could be a more realistic evolution of Lawson's outfit.

The spandex and makeup don't suit Ash' either.
SHE IS WEARING MAKEUP!
WHY?

Well, IIRC she was also wearing make-up in ME (1) and ME2 so I don't notice the difference. Standard Femshep also wears make-up. Both very basic and minimal.

yeh.  The make up doesn't bother me.  She looks nice with it.  Not over done and classic.  I've seen Shepards that look rather gothic and spooky.

But I disagree with the idea that someone we haven't seen in years would change so much that we don't recognize them.  I have friends I don't see but once every 5 or 6 years and their values have been consistant and while I have changed over the years, I still have the same core beliefs I had at 29.

Have you changed clothing styles? have your friends done things differently than they used to? This isn't the big change some people are making it out to be, there's been nothing to suggest that she isn't a soldier, it's just that her clothing/armor changed as our own and her understanding of the universe expands.

Also as to other males wearing the same thing, see Jacob Taylor for a less armored verson.

Que?

You mean she thought that the council would always want to put it's needs before Humanities. Which they did in ME 2 (See "Ah, yes Reapers"). Also when does Ash ever mean to any crew member? she suggests that Shepard restrict Vakarian  and Wrex from the engine room and CIC(which are valid concerns), but doesn't say anything about Tali. In fact in one of the elevator conversations she says she hopes that Tali fighting with them will minimize humans hating the quarians because they created the geth. Yes she suggests that Shepard  keep an eye on Liara, but after you fight Benezia she suggests that you go try and comfort her.
