No, I really can't...
Her suit doesn’t look like spandex. And her shoes have a slight heel, they seem to be around the same height as Tela Vasir’s, whose armor people have suggested Ashley should wear.

And why do you bring up space vaccuums? Can you name a time where someone was in a space vaccuum without a helmet? Planets and ships are not vaccuums.
The issue isn't juts vacuums. Your squadmates, in ME2, had their skin exposed even while going through toxic environments.
And there was vacuum in Legion's loyalty mission, derelict Reaper and inside the Collector ship.

Maybe once we see what they look like in ME3.
For now, I am content to be displeased with a character's new design being at odds with her past characterization and the established lore.

None of those are vacuums. A low gravity environment does not mean it's a vacuum.

Exactly this. If we knew that were the reason or if we knew this was just her casual wear, you would have many fewer people voicing their objections to it. The problem is that we don't have any information that indicates that this is the case.KateKane wrote...

Just a thought here ( I think I heard this earlier on the thread) but maybe her hair's like that cause she had to leave in a hurry from some important event where she had to look presentable but still look official cuz y'know, the reapers comin out of nowhere an' attacking earth with the local defenses being unprepared.
Am I missing something here? not being snarky I just usually miss something (like my grammar)

Well, technically, combat in space isn’t realistic either. Can you imagine taking damage, especially bullets in a pressurized suit? ME1 had armor that wasn’t realistic either really.
Erm... here's a Codex excerpt on armor.
The last level of protection is provided by the suit's microframe
computers, whose input detectors are woven throughout the fabric. These
manage the self-healing system, which finds rents in the fabric and,
assuming any such tear would wound the flesh underneath, seals the area
off with sterile, non-conductive medi-gel. This stanches minor wounds
and plugs holes in the suit that could prove fatal in vacuum or toxic
environments. Soldiers are not always fond of the "squish skin" that
oozes gel on them at a moment's notice, but fatalities have dropped
sharply since the system was implemented.
Oopsies.

Was mainly pointing out my problem with the logic behind general Me2 outfits more than Ashley's new look.
Something like Vasir's could be an interesting choice for light armor, but Ashley seemed to commend heavier equipment. And who knows if they plan to expand much more on squad customization?

Especially when you consider that both Ashley and Kaiden were originally going to be bisexual.
But they weren't made bisexual so that idea means nothing. What was actually put in the game is what defines it, not what might have been, or was going to be but wasn't, put in the game.

So Ashley's new outfit defines her. Which means people are mistaken about her character and should stop whining that it doesn't fit her.

Why should anyone have to deal with hate? Absurd. Constructive criticism, concerns and even suggestion should be what they deal with. Not vitriol and childish behavior because people lack the lexicon or good taste to place their thoughts into respectful and tasteful complaints. It’s ridiculous that anyone should be expected to deal with hate or harassment.
