This is the silliest line I've read all day,  kudos.

Especially when you consider that both Ashley and Kaiden were originally going to be bisexual.

But they weren't made bisexual so that idea means nothing.  What was actually put in the game is what defines it, not what might have been, or was going to be but wasn't, put in the game.

So Ashley's new outfit defines her. Which means people are mistaken about her character and should stop whining that it doesn't fit her.

ME1 defines her.  The comment about bisexual was in reference to ME1.  Ash's personality defines her which was set in ME1.  Her comments about the asair dancers, her comments about dinner before wearing high thigh boots and a mini skirt.

I have no problem seeing Ash wear something sexy.  I do have a problem with Ash wearing armor that isn't practical, unless this is something she's wearing as a casual, not expecting trouble, dinner after the trial armor. I don't want to take her on every mission in this.  I want practical armor for a practical woman in the style ME1 gave us.

Well, if she enjoys it, she'll have to take the whole package.  Too bad her twitter is part of her job,  Instead of telling them about artistic views, maybe she should tell them who is in charge of making those artistic decisions and let that person deal with the hate.

Why should anyone have to deal with hate? Absurd. Constructive criticism, concerns and even suggestion should be what they deal with. Not vitriol and childish behavior because people lack the lexicon or good taste to place their thoughts into respectful and tasteful complaints. It’s ridiculous that anyone should be expected to deal with hate or harassment.

They shouldn't.  I've hung up on people at work who start cussing me out.  But I have had to listen to complaints because it was part of the job.  If BioWare won't let her block the people who are hate filed she should talk to her boss.  If this isn't part of her job then she must enjoy something about it that I don't get.

Mrs. Norman said no such thing. People are taking that quote to extremes.

OK, she didn't say it explicitly.  But she clearly implied it.  Either it is Ashley's combat outfit or she's messing with us.

And, of course, if she's been misinterpreted she's free to correct people.

And I can also safely imply that she meant that they're not going to compromise on the look, specifically. That Ashley's hair will remain down, and that the whole character makeover will remain intact. That question could of very well been directed at the makeover itself, instead of the armor as a whole.

I don't think she needs to correct anything when so many people have their own interpretations of it already.

As for me, I like it. And I'm not going to complain.
I agree with you on Ash's personality. But as a character she has to mature too. It's been three years.

Then I worded it wrong.

No one is expressing the proper type of concern.
No one is asking for clarification on whether this suit will be the only thing Ashley wears or if it is, can it still operate in space or a vaccum.

All I'm hearing is irrational anger and assumptions (about her personality as well) over limited information.

There is no constructive criticism here.

You win sir ! ;)

Some of us have mentioned in passing that BioWare could clairfy everything if they wanted to just by saying they will have more than one armor option or even DLC armor you can buy.  I really do think they enjoy reading some of the argument post.

Well, how long has it been from ME1 - to ME3?  3 or 4 years.  Then no my clothing style pretty much stayed the same from 27 - 39.   Now, yes it's changed a little, I can't wear the same clothing style I did back then.

Mmmm hmmm so you admit that your style has changed. All right have you been through a life altering event like Ash. (stopping Saren, losing the Normandy, becoming a Spectre etc) That kind of thing might change you more than you're thinking.

She told Shepard he'd have to take her to dinner to get her in an outfit like that.

So he'd have to take her out to get her into combat armor? I mean the front and back armor seems like the same or a more advanced flexible material used in ME 1's armor. The legs appear to be armored as well as are the shoulders.

And Jacob's armor does't have a V neck.

There's a seam running down the center of Jacob's suit, along with two clasps at the top. Ashley's armor seems to be of similar design, she just has it open at the moment

and Kaidan's looks practical.

Kaiden, being a Biotic Sentinal, has different suit and requirements from Ashley. For all we know that cermaic armor is packing systems to help improve his control over his powers, and help with the headaches he gets when using them.

Those look nothing like Ashley's shoes

Really? She has elevated heels for cushioning while running, admittedly it's been upgraded with future tech but still.

ME1 defines her.

ME 1 set up who she was, ME 3 is who she has become after 2 years and a lot of life changing events

I want practical armor for a practical woman in the style ME1 gave us.

Hmmm elevated runnig boots to increase her range and speed. Chest armor for protection that dosen't restrict her movement, armor on her back, legs and hips, fully sealable attire...what exactly is impractical about what she is wearing?

Wow.

So is the vision for Mass Effect to be Flash Gordon now, seeing as how it's more important to make characters wear "interesting" outfits rather then sensible ones? Are the Hawkmen going to fly through space and kill all the Reapers for us? And yes I'm perfectly aware the series is inspired by many Sci-Fi works of the past (namely those of the 70s and 80s). Still I thought you guys were trying to create an actual engaging Sci-Fi universe, not another pure Space Fantasy Adventure. Apparently I was wrong and I guess Mass Effect fooled me.

Why does Shepard even need armor anyways? Is it really to provide protection or is it just so he can look badass? Why can't Shepard just run around in a Hoodie if you don't actually need armor for anything then?

Answer me this: If all Ashley needs is a jumpsuit why isn't that all Shepard needs? Why does Shepard wear all that armor if they don't need it? Surely it would be far easier for Shepard to roll and run in armor that didn't resemble platemail.

Look I don't need explanation for everything in-game. But if Shepard and his squad don't need combat hard-suits why create this Codex entry:

"Combat hard-suits use a dual-layer system to protect the wearer. The inner layer consists of fabric armor with kinetic padding. Areas that don't need to be flexible, such as the chest or shins, are reinforced with sheets of lightweight ablative ceramic. The outer layer consists of automatically-generated kinetic barriers. Objects traveling above a certain speed will trigger the barrier's reflex system and be deflected, provided there is enough energy left in the shield's power cell.Armored hard-suits are sealable to protect the wearer from extremes of temperature and atmosphere. Standard equipment includes an onboard mini-frame and a communications, navigation, and sensing suite. The mini-frame is designed to accept and display data from a weapon's smart targeting system to make it easier to locate and eliminate enemies."

So Shepard and company don't need proper hard-suits anymore because...

A) Shields can stop all bullets?
B) Bullets aren't really that deadly to unprotected body tissue?
C) Bullets can't pierce thin fabrics?
D) You'll never be exposed to a vacuum?
E) You'll never be exposed to hazards?
F) You'll never be exposed to a different atmosphere?
G) Helmet displays are useless?
H) Suit strength augmentation is useless?
I) Suit Medi-Gel dispersal is useless?

Wow all those things must be true! I guess wearing armor is pretty silly afterall. Boy Garrus is really lame for wearing some kind of armor all the time. And I think we all know that because Garrus is always wearing armor that makes him the most unpopular character of the series.

Thinking that the armor will help stop bullets is silly. They travel at near light speed. You could be walking around in armor made of diamonds and the bullet would blast through it.

The kind of bulky armor your discussing may no longer be cutting edge. Shepard is an iconic character so in all the trailers and vids he's shown wearing iconic armor (in general). However once you get into the game you can change his gear. Heck he's not wearing his iconic armor in the same vid in which we saw Ashley, so who knows what may be available to him.

Now the lack of bulky armor does not mean that a suit can not provide much the same protection and functionality. Whether they want to admit it or not, most of the council races have been studying teh wreckage of Soverign and turned around new tech within two years. Case in point the Thanix cannons on the Normandy. We know Reaper tech can do things normally outside the bounds of current knowledge, and there's been suggestion that Humanity has had a chance to study Reaper tech, so it's not hard to imagine that Ashley's new armor does everything the old one did without having to be as heavy/restrictive/bulky

I can't believe this thread is still going on about Ashley's look. Which is - the circumstances considered - just for the occasion. That is Shepards trial and any sensible person would go for a trial in a suit that makes her/himself look good. And, as she is professional, Ash wouldn't say "wait guys, before we fly in for Shepard, I need to change into my battle armor". She didn't had the time for that.
But even if that is her combat armor, the game takes place in the future. Do you haters really think that 170 years in the future, they wouldn't come up with a material that super durable, but thin as a cloth? Look at Miranda's "catsuit", do you think the hexagonal pattern is just for the look? Or the thickness of the fabric is against the coldness of the ship interior?
Try to be sensible, before you rage about things like this.
As for why then Shaperd needs that bulky armor? because it's iconic now.

I actually agree with this. I would love for them to go back to ME1 armor styles and let you choose light, medium or heavy. It gives you a choice. I even liked the helmets in ME1, which is why I hated the no helmet toggle in ME2 and never wore any. I have said before that I felt kind of odd walking around Illium wearing full armor, a light casual armor would have been nice in that instance.

Seriously guys this is ALL we are asking for confirmation for what the squad armor (and Shep's) is going to be like, would it be so earth shattering (reaper invading) to let us know there's more to it then this?

Looking at Christina's twitter, I am absolutely not confident at all this is the case when all she says is; Kaidan and Ash are characters, not defined by their RPG roles OR class... Which is a ridiculous thing to say at this point. >.>
