Bad example, Liara is an Asari information broker with who knows what gear hidden in her suit.
Miranda is a perfectionist Cerberus operative with who knows what tech threaded through her suit.
You need a character-based reason why Ashley would change.
Because her access to better resources allowed her to design custom armor that would give her all the advantages of a hardsuit without the weight? Because she's grown as a person in the two years you've seen her and learned how to fight differently?

That would make sense if she had said something like "sorry not really my department, y'all have to wait for the aesthetic development guy."LPPrince wrote...
And again, you realize that Christina Norman is the Lead Gameplay Designer, right?
How about waiting for what Ashley's actual artist has to say about the matter? Or you know, someone more relevant to her aesthetic development?
However, she has given a response on why this change has happened. Are you saying she just made something up while she was speaking? I don't buy that: I take Christina Norman seriously.

Any developer could comment on anything from any other department. Doesn't mean what they say is the law.

Cool, Kaidan is a spectre, who knows what gear hidden in his light armor suit. Oh wait. You really don't get it, do you? Have you read the article I linked on special pleading arguments? Can't you see you are simply making stuff up as you go? Everything is special now! Kaidan's armor? Special. Miranda's outfit, special; Liara's outfit, who knows how special it is; Ashley clothing, technologically superior (ie special). Just because!
I already addressed that.Because her access to better resources allowed her to design custom armor that would give her all the advantages of a hardsuit without the weight? Because she's grown as a person in the two years you've seen her and learned how to fight differently?
@LPPrince, I'm basing my judgment on what we have. If there are future tweets with new info, I'll be glad since as I have already said, I'd like to have coherent reasons for changes, and I have given Liara in ME2 as a good example. However, to this day I have no reason to think Christina Norman is wrong.

Problem, Ashley dosen't use biotics or tech based abilities. Kaiden does, thus her suit rquirments are not the same as Kaidens. Miranda is genetically engineered, and has lord knows what kind of Biotic system running through her body. Kaiden is known to be L2 which has been shown to be inferior to even what Shepard had in ME 1. So again, he has different needs than the other character.
Everything is special now! Kaidan's armor? Special. Miranda's outfit, special; Liara's outfit, who knows how special it is; Ashley clothing, technologically superior (ie special). Just because!
Not just because, each person mentioned is much different than rank and file soldiers, and some of them have access to gear and equipment hat most people don't have. Heck most star ships aren't running around with a cloaking engine, Asari armor, multi-phasic shield, and a Thanix cannon. So why should I discount the possibility that they've made use of their connections/access to gain gear most people could only dream of?

Yeah I know. My attempts at being positive and keeping things positive in this thread tend to fail when I'm one of like a whole.....one who do it.

But you're pretty much making up these hypothetical systems that may or may not be justifying the questionable character designs.
That really does nothing for anybody's argument.

I wonder why the devs don't come in here and calm everyone down. Chris has to read threads such as these as part of his job, and I'm sure many other employees have noticied Christina's new tweets/issue regarding fans outrage regarding her choice of words.

Alright I'm done. Bioware can make good changes because I liked Liara's change in ME2, as I said in a long post everybody ignored, so I know they can do this right. I'll just wait and see if Christina Norman changes her mind one of these days and says something reasonable about this. Until then, I remain concerned and hopeful.

I'm taking the availble information and positing a possible scenario, just like you. Your claims are they've some how dressed Ashley in contradiction to her character. I've pointed out that her character could've changed. I've pointed out that the armor she is now wearing could be more effective then your thinking. You claim that none of it makes sense, when much of what I and others said does make sense. It's fully plausibe for Ashley to choose to wear lighter armor due to events that will be revealed in game. It's just as Plausible for Kaiden to choose the gear he did, again due to events that will be revealed in game.
I don't mind people voicing concerns, but this has gone beyond that, with people trying to justify lynching Biodevs because these fans are unable to grasp that the universe or a character may have more to them than what they first thought. The fact that they've pestered Mrs. Norman on twitter is disheartening to say the least.
