Where is Miranda??

If it were me, I'd put Miranda on the ship and give her loads of tension with the VS. The VS and Miranda are the "poster" characters for the Alliance/Council and Cerberus phases of the mission. The VS is upset with having what would normally be a high-value intel target wandering around on the ship and Miranda is upset the VS has usurped her place as Shepard's right hand. Season with jealousy or sexual tension as appropriate.

Imagine some kind of rescue mission depending on the LI(s) you had previously.

Well, honestly, I believe the chances of Miranda coming back in a big role and also as a squat member are really good. She has a huge fan club, her character is interesting and the whole Cerberus business is not really resolved. So I don't think, you Miri fans should despair yet. ;-)
We're not doing that. But I think it's only natural to fear for the worst - this time, if any character gets a Horizon treatment there won't be another game to make up for it, and lack of resources can screw even highly desirable things up. I guess we should glad about the delay, for regardless of the primary reasons for it, it will give Bioware the opportunity to put a few more things in.

Now my favourite ME2 Romance was Jack and the chances of her coming back are pretty minimal. *sigh*
Perhaps things are not quite as bleak: there is the fact that Jack is Casey Hudson's favorite character. No idea how much that will influence things, but I can't imagine it will have no effect at all. Too bad Jacob hasn't got such a highly-ranked supporter. As for Thane, at least people knew what was coming, so any extended presence will be a good surprise. For Miranda it's the other way round: anything *but* an extended presence will be a disappointment.
Anyway, I'm keeping my hopes up and I definitely don't want any story spoilers. But a little reassurance Miranda will have significant screen time (possibly depending on our decisions) would go a long way.

I watched that yesterday, but it's still pretty vague. He said their roles (as opposed to the extent of their roles) will depend on your decisions. So it could mean if Miranda resigned from Cerberus in ME2 she'll do X and if she didn't she'll do Y, but her role could be pretty small in either case. I don't really believe that, but lack of information is slowly eroding that belief.Bottomroach wrote...
Don't know if it's been posted already but at the live chat yesterday someone asked if Miranda will be back. Jesse didn't give away any spoilers but he said something along the lines that Miranda will be back, and that the extent her role in the game will depend on the actions you took in ME2. So there you go, pretty clear if you ask me - she can be dead, have a minor role or be a LI with a major role depending on how you treated her in ME2. It caters to everyone, from fans to haters and anything in between.

I like the idea of a team member getting a bigger role if she is an LI, and I don't think it's impossible, but it would be complicated to write with all the different main plot hooks of the different characters, and use up a lot of resources for content many players won't see. If Bioware goes that way and the result turns out convincing I'll be impressed - and I'll let them know that as well.

I think there's actually a fair chance Shepard's squad in ME3 is going to consists of LI's only (dunno about that new soldier character though). So far, we have Ashley/Kaidan as well as Liara, Tali and Garrus. Miranda and Jacob are possible. They are both unemployed (assuming you blew up the Collector base). Jacob could even be there from the start - where else would he go? Miranda certainly has some unfinished business to do since TIM knows the location of her sister and could also sell her out to her father. How awesome would it be to take down Lawson senior?
I agree. And probably Vega is the new LI. I doubt that they'll make the new LI outside the squad members, so I'm almost certain that we'll have a new female LI in team. In my opinion the only non-LI squad member (as permanent) that we could get is Grunt (Zaeed and Kasumi will probably not be permanent SM, Mordin. Wrex and Legion are almost confirmed as temporary, and I doubt that they'll put two Asari in our team, so Samara will probably be in Thessia). If even Grunt is outside our team, then we'll get a full-LI team in ME3. We're going to surpass DA2 even if we'll get Grunt (since in DA2 we have two non-LI companions).

Well Jacob seems to be out. Thane logically should be in failing health. Jack and Miranda are unaccounted for, but I begin to believe Garrus and Tali are our only returning ME2 LIs. Miranda's appeal is largely her sex appeal for a vast majority of casuals, I imagine, Ashley can fill that role. The best hope for Miranda is her Cerberus connection.
So preferring Miranda as your LI makes you a "casual." Okay then....

not but the casual buyer makes up the majority of sales, so instead of just playing to the xenophiles, perhaps some attention could be directed towards that vital audience as well - the large portion of the 80% of the audience that plays male soldier shep and will go for the default romance choice (which is obviously miranda - she was even that in the launch trailer), and that's not even counting substantial popularity amongst hardcore fans everywhere.

No. I'm saying that a large majority of casuals (and therefore players) who romanced her likely did so because of her looks. They won't have any great attachment to the character and is, for them, interchangeable.

Ah. I understand now. Thanks for clarifying. Not sure I agree though. If a player chooses to romance Miri I feel like they're going to have a connection with the character.
In any case Miranda was one of the main party members in ME2. She'll be back as a full time squad member though it may indeed be the case where you have to break her out of Cerberus custody to get her.

When i'm fighting against the reapers, i want her by my side. When i'm considering possible allies, i want her opinion. When i've just finished a mission, i want to be able to talk to her and find out how she is. <3
That is beautiful, i really hope Bioware can deliver a reunion like it!Ieldra2 wrote...
Shepard and one team member are walking along
a corridor. They've spent some time exploring this Cerberus station and
are on high alert for enemies.
There's a thumping sound coming
from behind a bulkhead. Then another. The bulkhead flies out of its
frame, driven by the body someone has thrown against it. A blue
afterglow is hanging in the air. Camera zooms on that body. Blood is
seeping out of some cracks in its armor.
Camera swings to the opening. Miranda steps through, as composed as ever. Seeing Shepard, she raises one eyebrow.
Miranda (with a challenging smile): "You're late".
Shepard (looks pointedly at the body): "Seems you didn't need my help after all."
Miranda (self-deprecatingly): "Perhaps. I'd have escaped. But that's not enough."
Shepard: "So you went here on your own? What for?"
Miranda:
"I'd heard Cerberus was after you. [if Miranda didn't resign: Nobody
told me]. I wanted to know what's behind it. I had my own personal
network within Cerberus, but they've all been subverted. That's how I
got captured. When I noticed their strange behaviour, it was too late
for escape. It appears they've been indoctrinated."
Miranda: "How
could the Illusive Man let that happen? He knows what we're up against.
Anyway, the rest of the station is on high alert now. No chance of
slipping through undetected. If you aren't in a hurry to leave, together
we might prevent this mission from becoming a total failure."
Shepard
[romance option present if ME2 romance progressed past the promise
scene] (smiling): "It would only have been a total failure if they'd got
you."
Miranda (a mix of exasperation and amusement on her face): "We've got a job to do.....but..."
She steps closer, hesitates for a moment, then proceeds to kiss him rather forcefully.
We
hear another bulkhead opening with a hiss. Camera swings over to show
Kai Leng standing in the opening, a squad of Cerberus guards behind him.
Kai
Leng (sarcastically): "What a touching reunion! [if Miranda resigned: I
knew there was more behind your betrayal than....professional
disagreement]. Unfortunately it won't proceed beyond this point."
The mini-boss fight of this mission ensues.

Not only this but the terms "casual" and "hardcore" are thrown around here WAY too much. Before I started reading the BSN I assumed "casual" meant my grandma who like Wii bowling.
Now you'd think sinking 50 hours in ME2 still makes you "casual" because ME2 "isn't enough of an RPG"
but I digress...

that could apply to everyone who could die in ME2, so it's not really saying anything at all.
He did say there are other factors of your decisions in addition to surviving the suicide mission. If you ask me, that means LI status and loyalty mission done (remember MIranda only dies if you bring her for the final boss and she's not loyal). Maybe I'm reading too much into it, wouldn't be the first time. Hopefully someone will bring her up at the live Q&A today.
As for the hardcore/casual thing, it isn't black and white, there's sho many shades in between. And none of that relates in any way to who you will romance. I should point out I went into ME2 with the mindset of staying loyal to Ashley. In my head Miranda was just eye candy for us to gawk at and the ice queen attitude was done before and better. But as the game progressed, and especially after Miri's loyalty quest and the conversations after, I saw there was solid writing and character developement there and I liked her much more and decided to romance her.

Statistically, it does seem that way though. Recall that Valentine's Day poll? About the only one not connected in any way the forums here. And Miranda came out first, while hereabouts she often ranks lower than the non-humans. So I think it's safe to say that those who frequent these forums have statistically different LI preferences than those others - possibly less "hardcore" - who voted on that other poll. Assumptions about the why of those preferences I'd be careful with but it might just be they prefer a beautiful human woman. Not exaclty far-fetched, is it? Xenophilia might just be an acquired taste....Bottomroach wrote...
