ati radeon 5700 w/ windows 7 OS service pack 1 (installed service pack 1 AFTER mass effect 2 didn't work. no change) DirectX 10 version
Details about your problem.
1. What is the nature of the problem you are seeing?
My game freezes anytime I load for up to 5 minutes. At Freedom's Progress, I decided to get food, 10 minutes later it was still frozen.
2. When did the problem start occurring?
when I installed Mass Effect 2 on my new computer
3. Where does your problem occur?
Happens on loading screens
4. What are the steps in replicating the problem?
I am loading the game and that's it, nothing else. Startup is fine, until I need to login to cerberus network, the couple times I've gotten past that the game freezes later anyway
5. Have you modified your game in any way?
No

Oh also FRAPS says that it's at 62 FPS whenever my game freezes. Not sure if relevant

And where is the data about the computer, operating system, drivers, etc?

I don't know about others but I can't access those photos. You will have to change something or post the specs here by typing out.

One thing to try is changing your core affinity to link it to a single core and see if the problem goes away. Some amd multicore machines have issues with this game.

o, didnt know people couldn't see the images.

And drivers? Dates, IDs.

Steam, EADM, or disk version?
Catalyst version number?
Audio device?

Download and install DX9.0c from Microsofts website, as that is the specific version that ME2 requires. Link here.

If your audio device is Realetk HD Audio, then download and install the latest driver from your motherboard manufacturers website, or from Realtek. The default driver included with Win7 is known to be buggy and unstable.
