So since each class will have its own melee specfic attack, is the infiltraitor class stuck with the omni blade too? 

I really hope the infiltraitor class gets a knife of some sort

Each class is supposed to have a unique heavy melee, so probably not the same, although a variance on the omni-blade is certainly possible, if not likely. Personally, I'm hoping I can just grab the barrel of my Widow and whup someone upside the head with the stock.

... Though I have to say, the new combat speed doesn't seem to mesh well with the Infiltrator as an idea. I don't wanna move so much. I do range, lemme do range, dang it. >

Still, very excited. we'll see eventually.

Why would you use a knife? The omni-blade is infinitely more portable, can be instantly drawn without even moving, would pass weapon screenings, and being concentrated in a mass effect field would have a great deal more potential for penetration and enhancements to its performance like fire, ice, or overload effects.

i just want a knife for my infiltraitor, and so many things have been retconned since the first game that i wouldnt be surprised if they came up with some type of new element for a metal  that is strong if not stronger than the omni blade thing.  That omni blade is also too flashy imo, it needs to be more subtle and i might take a liking to it
