I HOPE that it isn't a, Anderson stays behind to lead the fight against the Reapers. Then you return with all the allied races, only to find Anderson has fallen to Indoctrination and/or has become an Anderson husk(Anderhusk?). Then a boss fight between Shepard & Anderson plays out, possibly in the same place that Anderson first met Shepard, while dramatic music blares.

If any dev wants to shoot down my fear, I would be sooo thankful D:

By "no" he meant "no, it wouldn't be ok, it would be stupendous."

Try it on... "Stupendous Chris."

Just kidding, stay evil.  We don't want to know who lives and who dies yet.

Don't know if he'll go in the opening, but I'd say his chances of making it to the end of ME3 are pretty slim. He's the mentor, he'll die heroically sacrificing his life for Shepard's at some point.

Thinking about it, wouldn't it actually be a much more powerful scene if Udina does break Shepard out of the trial and gets killed whilst doing it? It shows that even complete jerks like Udina recognise the Reaper threat, and redeems the character (I'm a big sucker for people who realise they're doing the wrong thing and try and redeem themselves). It could go something like this:

[People in the trial, just before the Reapers arrive]

Judge: Shepard, you stand accused of genocide, murder, working for a terrorist organisation and the theft of a single Credit Chit from one Donovan Huck, how do you plead?

Shep: Your honour, I...

[Udina and Anderson burst in through the door, Anderson with an assault rifle, Udina with a pistol]

Anderson: Shepard you have to come with us now!

Udina[Terrified]: The Reapers are coming!

Judge: What the...

Udina: Your honour, do the words, "total annihilation" mean anything to you!?

Anderson: Shephard, we have no time, come with us now!

[Sudden explosion breaks the courtroom open, husks swarm over everyone]

Anderson: Now! [Tosses a pistol over to Shepard]

[Udina, Anderson and Shepard escape the courtroom and run out into the open where they fight their way through all the husks and whatever. After a while they reach the first of the new Cannibal Husks which promptly savages Udina. After they finish fighting it]

Shep: Udina! [Runs over to Udina]

Anderson: There's no time, we have to keep moving!

[Renegade interrupt option to just keep going, otherwise something like this happens:]

Udina[With ragged breathing]: Shepard, I don't think I'm going to make it...

Shephard: Damn it, just hang in there Udina, we're almost at the landing site!

Udina[Weak laughter]: I don't think that matters to me anymore. Shepard, I just want you to know [cough] that I'm so sorry for what I've done... I know that I'm responsible for all this! Damn it, if I wasn't so ****ing stupid I could have done something about this!

Paragon Shep: You did the best you could, no one can blame you for that.
Or
Renegade Shep: You should have trusted me, Udina.

Udina: I know that now... [Cough] Just... [Cough] Give them hell for me commander...

[Udina dies]

Anderson: Shepard, we have to keep moving. [Looks at Udina and mutters] Poor old fool...

That would really bring home the idea of the Unity needed to beat the Reapers, and prevent a character being remembered as being a total idiot. It also would be dramatic, I think...

If he does die in the beginning, it would be a huge waste and stupidly predictable and unsurprising.

We don't need to know that the stakes are high. I believe seeing Reapers kill millions in the distance and blow up a frigate right in front of our eyes is enough that we don't need to kill a character for the hell of it.

Yeah, while Udina is no soldier, having him perform a heroic sacrifice would be a fantastic moment.

While I don't necessarily think that Anderson absolsutely HAS to live to the very end of ME3 to justify my faith in life, I would be disappointed if he buys it so early in the game. I could handle Udina dying anytime though.

I just want to make sure that if Anderson must die that there is time to give him a proper send off with the heroic kind of death he deserves. Not simply a missed jump onto the Normandy, and if he does miss that jump, he won't be helming the resistance. He'll be an indontrinated husk if you ever run into him again.

According to Retribution, Anderson actually quit being a Councilor.

I would prefer Udina dieing from being stepped on by a Reaper after he gives a monologue about how Reapers don't exist.

I'm curious if who you choose to be on the council has any effect on a character death? Udina being on the council is the ME2 default, so that's likely the same for new players to ME3. In that case, perhaps Anderson is fighting if Udina is on the council, but what if he's trying to be diplomatic and find aid if he's the chosen member?

This is purely speculation. I do think it likely that Anderson and/or Udina will have outcomes where they can die just because I could see it happening, and I'm wondering if said character dies because of earlier decisions. Hm.

I just want udina to be mortaly wounded by a reaper, maybe the turian consuler too.

Or have to choose between Udina and the turian to save and choosing neither...

So want if it sounds juvinile and is offtopic, You know you agree deepdown inside.

Anderson dying? LOL! Anderson is most likely going to be the one eulogizing Shepard when this game is over. And I couldn't think of a better person than Anderson to pay tribute to Shepard's memory.

At the end of the "exclusive behind the scenes" footage from today (when Shep and Anderson run up to the Normandy) you can see two dialogue options: "...I'm staying" and "...you're not!". Hm...

Let the conspiracies begin!

He stays behind according to the Live Stream. But dies? Nah. He's too badass.

Maybe if we don't make it back fast enough, he'll be one of the casualties.

This could be the point where you actually get to ask Anderson to come on board the Normandy, or you leave him behind.

I'm pretty sure Anderson will die at some point. I really hope it's not in the opening.
I just watched the Anderson scene.... How the hell do you guys hear what they are saying?! 0_o
Couldn't make out a single word.... and I didn't see any dialogue choices, either *confused*

Anyway, I'd want Anderson to get a dramatic sacrifice scene that makes me cry at the end of the game. Not in the beginning.

Looking at it some more... it looks like the starting of those lines is...

"If your staying, I'm staying"

"Like hell, you're not!"

Won't matter he'll most likely stay but I doubt we'll see Anderson die in that moment, whether he dies/is dead when we return, that is an entirely different topic.
