It just reminds me of those infuriating automated phone systems that do not understand anything you say.

The funny this for me is that the squad commands are now working exactly the opposite of what I was hoping for. I wanted to issue the commands with the control pad like usual but then have Shepard voice them. Like in ME2 when he says "change weapons" only with much more specific orders.

I am very pleased we don't have to use it. It is a cool idea but if you select the option and Shepard says it then it feels like you said it but if you say something and then Shepard repeats it in a different way it doesn't feel like you are Shepard, just my opinion though.

Agreed.

Same. Looked a bit awkward.

Yeah especially when someone is nearby and in a loud voice you are professing your love to your LI.

I'm horrified with this announcement! I don't see the need for it, how hard is it at the minute to chose what to say? not very. I know that I won't use it because it will prevent me from talking to my friends in party and because I will all ways be in constant fear that someone will walk in and say something that will forever ruin my game!

I would much rather have no kinect and bioware focus on other aspects of the game, use the data space for more missions rather than kinect!

Dialogue wheel-wise? Yes it'd be redundant and unnecessary.

Combat-wise? No. /Sten

In fact it'd be better in fights where you won't have to pause and select your teammate powers or designate cover positions. With it I could probably control a little bit better where and what damage my team does, rather than let em just soak enemy fire (like meatshields) while I do all the killing solo.

So yep, much easier to call the shots (in battle) than just doing em myself alone.

Issuing commands... didn't seem so bad.

That dialogue selection system though... Wasn't the point of the paraphrasing that you think something, and then what's actually said is a natural continuation of your internal brain process? When both paraphrase and actual line is spoken out loud, it's apparently jarring.

Hey Prince I know you and Javier did lots of research on ME2, and i was looking around and wondering if we choose to use voice commands do we gain those squadmate hotkeys to use for ourselves, have you heard anything about that?

It's a silly thing to begin with, Kinect.

"Why yes Liara...I do love you"

I used to live with roomates. God, if they heard me talking to myself and reading out some of those paraphrases (our 360 was in the living room) I'm pretty sure you'd see ''Hilarious Kinetic Fail'' on youtube in seconds.

I have not in fact heard anything about that, but I'll keep on the lookout for more information regarding that. Just so you know, Javier and I are again doing our part to gather information on ME3 as we did previously with ME2.

As for voice recognition, I can confirm from personal experience that Kinect's VR is actually pretty spot on.

I currently(when using Kinect) use vocal commands to get around the Kinect menu and I've never had an issue.

Why do you need Kinect for squad commands?

Even thoughti talking ts slower than pressing a button, for me its way more fun,
actually the pause system lowered immersion ans was boring, voice commands is only going to immerse me further in the game.and give me a whole new ME experience.

You don't need it. You can still direct the squad to do things without the use of Kinect.

Kinect just allows you to do it verbally rather than using the controller.

I think its a great advantage for me.

Rather than spend time issuing the order for my squad to take cover at specific points or to attack a target while taking focus away from what I'm doing, I can verbally order them to do what I want them to do while I continue to fire away at the enemies on screen.

You can issue voice commands to your squad now, examples would Garrus move up, Tali energy drain and so on.
I personally like it cause now I can say use an ability if I don't have it hotkeyed the controller without pausing the game.

Sorry, I still think Kinect is one in a long line of console gimmicks, and the tech to make it truly meaningful from a gameplay standpoint lies about 20 yrs from now. I'm sure this development makes Microsoft happy but I hope they didn't waste too much time on it.

Motion control is a gimmick now, but you never know what the future will bring.

Controllers are still MUCH preferred, but one day that could change.

The squad commands might really work pretty well and be a cool feature for combat.
The dialogue system on the other hand seems a bit awkward since Shepard voices everything anyway and the wheel options are just there to give you a hint at what s/he is going to say. It would have worked really well in DA: Origins I guess (would have given you the feeling to really talk to the NPCs) but for ME it seems like a bit of an obsolete addition. However since you don't have to use it, it's not really a problem though.

The only way I would even be remotely tempted to use the Kinect is if you can shout at squadmates to stay in cover. How many times have our squadmates idiotically pressed forward or stood in plain sight when hiding in cover could have kept them alive? Being able to shout, "NO, LIARA! STAND DOWN!" or "JAMES, TAKE COVER!" and then have them listen and obey would be a great feature.

I'm not terribly interested in dialogue immersion or issuing voice orders to move forward or use powers, but I would like shouting at squadmates to have some meaning.

Actually, you still need to point your crosshairs to where you want them to go in regards to cover.

Yeah, if you squad ever leaves cover, you should be able to order them back in cover and they'd obey.

Because voice recognition is a Kinect feature, not a feature on the headsets.
