Kinect Speaking may actually lower immersion?

Meh.

Personally, it would lower my immersion, but I don't begrudge them for including the feature.  Some people may like it, so whatever.  I won't be using it, because I am not my Shepards.  Optional voice recognition for dialogue would be more interesting if it was for a silent protagonist like the Warden.  With Shepard, though, I don't really see the point.  Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale are the voice of Shepard, not me.  Why on earth would I want to throw my voice into the mix?

And the combat commands sounded like a neat idea until someone pointed out to me that you could probably pull up the wheel and tell Liara to throw a singularity twice in the amount of time it will take you to physically say "Liara, singularity".  As Legion said, audio exchange is inefficient.  :P

I feel like with Shepard repeating lines it is a 3-person conversation. I would like at least the option to turn off Shepard's voice actor since I will be doing the job for free...well I'll be paying to be Shepard's voice actor.

I say this cause I want to do the voice recognition and I do not like Shepard repeating what I said. Does Shepard actually say anything necessary when the NPC and I are doing it all?

Also, does the voice recognition work with a headset?

1. Voice Recognition is a Kinect feature, NOT a Headset feature. You must have a Kinect Sensor to use this functionality.
2. What you verbally say will not be the exact lines Shepard utters.
3. No, you're not actually going to be Shepard's voice actor. You're simply voicing what could be in Shepard's head before he says his lines(an example of how to justify the summaries of responses).

It was done like 3 years ago in EndWar before Kinect even came out. It's ok though. I was planning on getting Kinect eventually anyway.
