Personally, it would lower my immersion, but I don't begrudge them for including the feature. Some people may like it, so whatever. I won't be using it, because I am not my Shepards. Optional voice recognition for dialogue would be more interesting if it was for a silent protagonist like the Warden. With Shepard, though, I don't really see the point. Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale are the voice of Shepard, not me. Why on earth would I want to throw my voice into the mix?
And the combat commands sounded like a neat idea until someone pointed out to me that you could probably pull up the wheel and tell Liara to throw a singularity twice in the amount of time it will take you to physically say "Liara, singularity". As Legion said, audio exchange is inefficient.
