I got a new PC for playing games.

Intel core i7

8gb ram

Radeon HD 5770

windows 7

I'm a noob pc gamer so I'm not sure if it can play ME1. I downloaded it from Steam. Started playing and it freezes every few 5 - 10 seconds, then the monitor blacks out to fix it. I played on medium settings then went to low settings and it still wont work.

Is my PC good enough to play it? I have the latest drivers

please answer if you can. Thanks

PS: If I left out any important info on my PC specs I apoligize. I'm new to this.

Youve left out a bunch of info.
Video driver version. Just saying "latest" means nothing. Give us the exact Catalyst versuion number.
DirectX version. Have you installed DX9.0c? This is the version hat is specifically required by ME, DX10 and 11 arent backwards compatible enough for ME's requirements.
Audio device and driver revision.
Win7 version, 32 or 64 bit?
Have you tried running it in XP compatability mode?
UAC enabled, or disabled, and have you tried running it as admin?

Its also worth noting that Win7 is not on the supoprted OS list for ME, as it was developed after ME came out. Sometimes it works like a charm, other times you get problems.

Catalyst Control Panel.

I find this in the information section.

- Catalyst version 11.5
- 2D Driver version 8.01.01.1152
-  Direct3D  version 7.14.10.0833

Is that the info needed?

Edit: Do I have download directx 9? Apparently directx 11 doesn't work well for some people

Both Dx10 and Dx11 omit some needed library files that the game relies upon, so it includes a version of Dx9c on the game disk it wants to install with the game. All versions of Direct3D are fully compatible with one another, so Dx9 is just added to a Vista / Win 7 machine with the newer Direct3D on it.

After when it frezzes and the monitor reboots itself, I get a message saying the display driver stopped responding and recovered.

I'm able to start the game. go through character creation, then it starts to frezzes when the actual gameplay starts.

Not sure how to fix that.
