So far other than Garrus, Liara, and Wrex. I havent seen confirmation of any of my favorite characters. I want Grunt for squad mate in ME3. If he isnt I will be extremely upset but Iam still buying the game anyway. Gotta finsh the fight right?

Since they are scaling down on the squadmates Grunt will probably be one of the temporary ones.

yeah, Grunt isnt really that important to the story and not a LI so i dont think he's coming back as a perma squaddie.

only reason he might is cus he's a "token krogan". which is a bad reason to make him a perma squaddie over someone who makes more sense.

If Vega is the 'tank' soldier in ME3 then Grunt is redundant unless he changes classes. The only class change I could envision for Grunt would be to a vanguard because he is descended from a load of legendary Krogan battlemasters who are vanguards by definition. Biotic potential in Krogan is thought to be linked to the the calibre/purity of the genes/bloodline and Grunts are the best. Biotic potential would normally take centuries to manifest in Krogan but he was created with Collector technology so his age could be negated.

Though the likelihood of BioWare making Grunt the permanent vanguard in ME3 are pretty slim because he can die in ME2 and also as Wrex is one of the last living battlemasters he would just be seen as a Wrex rip-off/substitute.

Any dev quote not filtered through dramatizing journalism. Can't really pinpoint, but that's the gist they're making with all the "it's a war story" and "squadmates work differently" talks.
