Clint Mansell's work during the kid scene was amazing

It sounds amazing and I don't recognize it from an earlier game?

Wait, are you sure that it was his work? The rest of the demos had DLC music, placeholders.
Only 2 ME1&2 OST's use piano.
ME1 Romance Theme and ME2 Reflection( Romance theme).
It didn't sound like any of them.
Either that or the scene was just there to show that ME3 will be more emotional. We may not see it in the final game.Chewin3 wrote...

Besides, I don't think that kid is even real.
How the hell Shepard noticed that kid in vent and not notice him leaving?
That is a interesting point. There were even speculations that Shepard was just hallucinating.
It can do both.
Also that sound effect make sound like it's foreshadowing.

That's what makes it so amazing. But if a Bioware rep could confirm that would be great?

i think he's struck a nice balance. he's got the synth going, the piano. its a good mix of classic ME1 and his style.
Can I be honest? Other than this scene, I don't recall hearing any of his work in the E3 videos. They used ME2 soundtracks from DLCs as filler, from what I see.
Though to be fair, this one snippet of music we've heard from him was pretty phenomenal.

That may sound like an over-reaction, but the music in ME1 and ME2 is a large part of the reason i love them so much. I'm a massive critic when it come to music, so straying too far from the Mass Effect feel will likely affect my experience more than the majority of other users here.

I don't think it is, especially considering the Epic scale that the Mass Effect music has come to.
But so far Bioware's been spouting the word "EPIC" every second--if they continue this mentality then I'm sure the music will be fine. I thought the musical switch from ME1 -> ME2 was pretty drastic too, with only similar themes linking us back to the original soundtrack, but I ended up liking the score regardless.

He better not! Don't touch our Galaxy Map music, Clint!roflchoppaz wrote...
I'm wondering, will Mansell add his own orchestral touch to Galaxy Map music and how it will work out if yes. I always adored the Galaxy Map music, both ME1 and ME2 versions.

If i had a choice, i would greatly prefer BW went back to the ME1 style track. Songs like Vigil, Spectre Induction, Noveria, Liara's World, Protect the Colony, The Presidium.... (I better stop) were all amazing to listen to with their own unique feel. ME2 had some great tracks, but they differed a large amount from the previous game. Tracks like Suicide Missions and Reflections were absolutely amazing though, and the original ME feel was prominent in them.
My worst nightmare would be for ME3 to completely leave it's ME roots and take on a completely new vibe. Although epic, I can't see "Reqiuem for a Dream" fitting into ME at all.

It was alright. There was nowhere near enough to call it good. It was a few piano chords played over for about 10 seconds. I think people should wait till they hear more of his ME stuff before they start praising the ground he walks on. Going to far from the original ME soundtrack roots could really kill the experience.

I certainly want to see some recurring elements from ME1 > ME2 > ME3. But honestly, Jack Wall's ME2 soundtrack was a huge departure from the ME1 soundtrack. In ME1 I was hearing heavy influences from Vangelis's Bladerunner and Cliff Martinez's work in general. The energy and composition in ME2, not so much. ME2's music seemed far more traditional. ME2's soundtrack was excellent but there was far less unity in terms of its overall theme.
Since Clint Mansell has proven that he can pull off the cosmic/ambient/atmospheric/electronica themes that do well in sci-fi, and he has shown that he can pull of that epic ensembles, I am not worried at all. As long as some of those elements that appeared in ME1 and ME2 are in the ME3 soundtrack, I'm going to be okay with any other departures Mansell decides are necessary as long as the music is good. I guess I just don't see any real similarities between the ME1 and ME2's soundtrack as a whole other than a few recurring elements to tie the two together.
