It's Bioware/EA's way of getting round the second-hand market as to get the content all you have to do is buy it new.BickDutt wrote...

Yep, it seems to be the trend for Bioware now
I think it's a little douchey to only offer some stuff like a character to people who buy the CE.

Totally with you. I bought the collector's edition of Mass Effect 2, and this one looks more worthwhile with the goods inside.Gorosaur wrote...
I was gonna buy the collectors edition anyways. I'm totally fine with having extra in game content for the extra price.

Will likely be available in regular edition.

The DLC mission and character might be part of ME3s version of the Cerberus Network and if that is the case it will be available to anyone who buys the game new (this is not announced but I am expecting it as they did that with both DA:O and ME2) the rest is usual CE stuffRAF1940 wrote...

The Cerberus armor made all other armor redundant. I hear there's some sort of Dragon Armor in DA2 that does the exact same thing. I don't want that sort of crap, and I don't want to waste time working out which of the free DLCs are worth downloading and which ones aren't. Of the free DLCs that were released for ME2 I've only kept the Cerberus Armor And Shotgun DLC, and only for the Shotgun which actually fixes the game balance rather than breaking it. I don't allow myself to use the armor.

The Dragon Armour in DA2 only outclasses early game armour and you have to upgrade by mid-game at the latest. I do agree with the DLC weapons in ME2 for the most part thoughonelifecrisis wrote...
My problem with this stuff is that it usually breaks the game balance and/or is of substandard quality.

The Dragon armor in DA2 was because people owned Dragon Age Origins or unlocked it in ME2. And as the previous post said, it was outclassed early in the game. As a matter of fact, I never used it in DA2 because by the time you get to use it, you have comparable armor already on the console. Or better armor on the PC due to mods. That armor was weak and anyone who used it for long in DA2 is either a glutton for punishment or trying to see how far they can go on that weak hunk of tin.

I certainly hope so. I'm not too into out-of-game stuff like artbooks, as my room is already packed enough as it is and I might lose it (or leave it in the box like my Assassin's Creed 2 Master Assassin edition). I prefer stuff I will actively use.

I'm on the fence really on this subject.
DA2 had day 1 DLC but it was an incomplete game so that's why I hated it. If ME3 is a completed game, then having CE content as DLC on day 1 I would have less problem with. Now if the Day 1 DLC was something even CE owners had to get too, then yes that is a HUGE problem because basically that's saying they have something that should be in the game but charging extra for it.
But I see your point and can even agree with it depending on how it plays out. And after the DA2 fiasco, I feel Bioware should be real careful on how it does it.

+1 this CE is kinda on the pricey side imo. I bought it, but that was b/c I wanted the extra content.Gorosaur wrote...

When BW said they deleted the DLC, did they say they'd replace it with something else?

All this is going to do is encourage sensible players to pirate the the hole game.
Fixed.
Only pirates and CDProject deliver complete games to reasonable prices these days.
Unfortunatly I'm no sensible player and don't support pirating

So I know this is a sore subject with most people, and I am tired of hearing rumors about it too, but I just had a games conference for my work where publishers come in and talk about upcoming games and we get to see/play demos. In the presentation for EA they brought up Mass Effect 3 and pointed out the best points about the game and the Collectors Edition.
In these bullet points, and stated by the EA representitive presenting the game, there would be a multiplayer mode available as DLC around a month after the game is shipped. No other information was given, maybe it's something they're announcing at Gamescom? (some of what we got to see were said to be "exclusives" as they were not due to be shown until gamescom.)

The fact that this is both a DLC and multi issue warrants cross posting so I went with a single DLC thread. Apparently that isn't liked very much.

Ok, point taken. I was just alarmed at seeing multiple copy and paste posts in several threads.WelshWarden wrote...
Because I posted it in two different multiplayer threads that both had final posts from around the same time and so I didn't know which one to pick so I went with both.

Is MP via DLC actually a sore subject? From what I've seen on this board MP is the sore subject -- whenever someone posts something pro-MP he gets deluged with posts from players who want nothing whatsoever to do with MP.
DLC MP sounds like the perfect solution. Only people who are interested in MP pay for the MP.
Edit: and as for general DLC, I'm in the "who cares?" camp. I still haven't bought any, though I suppose I might pick up LotSB and Arrival if there isn't a GotY edition. If other folks want to buy the stuff, good for them.
