I think the numbers you will have available at any one time will be relatively low around 6. But there will be a lot more than 6 squadmates throughout different parts of the game. I fear for the lives of squadmates we get early

Actually no one is permanent!neo7732 wrote...
From what I've seen there are 5 permanent squad members. #6 is based off of the givin mission/ "chapter"

Where is Palaven anyway?
Somewhere within Citadel space, I'd guess.
Perhaps somewhere between Earth and the Citadel.
Nah, I think all the council homeworlds are on the left side of the Citadel (Earth is on the right).
I imagine Sur'Kesh being near Tuchanka and Palaven but being closer to the center of the galaxy and going away a bit. I can see Palaven being the closest to the Citadel, right near Tuchanka. I can see Thessia being the farthest away from the Citadel. I think it would be on the very edges of space, but whatever; going back on topic now :innocent:

Sounds like we'll be getting a lot of those.
I don't think the're bad. If they're handled the same way Liara was handled in LotSB, I'm good.

Also Grunt,Legion, and Mordin deserve better then that.

It kind of sucks that they made so many likeable characters, then they had to go and break up the band.VaultingFrog wrote...
I kind of wish they didnt add any more characters. The additions they made in ME2 and its DLC were more than enough I thought. With so many characters that could have been developed further I feel like they are taking a step backwards by adding in new ones for us to use.

The band is broken and they just don't sound right on their own. Sure we get some old standbyes but not too many from the looks of things. And even then events would tear them away.
For once I want the loyalty to pay off and they trust Shepard completely and stick with his plan through thick or thin. But it wont happen.
And the romance options are screwed now too, or at least I think they will be. Its like starting all over again even though your porting a character with history with these NPCs. Brings a tear to my eyes.

I think this is the unfortunate implication of what they have been saying about NPC's in ME3.
We know that the squad will be "smaller" but with so many temporary squadmates, and "A lot more romance options in ME3, possibly not limited to Party Members", it does seem like the Normandy will become a shipping centre- with new characters and new LI's constantly brought in, given a mission or two and a few pieces of dialogue, and taken away again.
I'm hoping it's handled better than that, but we'll have to wait and see.

...assuming they even make it on board. I think a lot of these temporary squadmates will feature in a mission or sequence of missions (like Overlord's setup) and then go off on their merry way.

I don't know, we will see. I get the impression we will have the small core of the vs, vega, garrus, and liara, and then everyone else will come and go. It also may be like DA 2 where some characters came and went at different times (sibling, Sebastian, Isabela) etc...

I'm not sure that counts as a cameo. I think that counts more like, a very special episode. A cameo is a brief appearance. LotSB lasted well over an hour, and most of that time was with Liara,Someone With Mass wrote...

No EA=Yoko BW=John. Think about it, the band got broken up after BW merged with EA, and BW formed the band in the first place.Humanoid_Typhoon wrote...

But that could potentially mean that party member encounters in ME3 will all play like LotSB. You recruit them temporarily and then after their specific missions they're gone from your squad.
And here I was hoping that we were going to be able to have a party of 3 accompany Shepard on missions as was done in Dragon Age1. Now I find out the squad will be smaller and most members temping instead of seeing the entire story through.

Soldier: James
Adept: Liara
Engineer: Tali
Infiltrator: Garrus
Vanguard: New Male Recruit? (hopefully alien, Krogan like Wrex would be nice)
Sentinel: Miranda
Bonus: Virmire Survivor (Kaidan or Ashley)
DLC: Prothean?

Why would I need a new vanguard I got Jack....and she has armor.
I sense that you love Jack haha. Well, as I said that would be a very female-heavy squad and Bioware tends to make things balanced. Also, I'm guessing they don't want to have another permanent member who could have been killed at the end of ME2 (Tali and Garrus are given exception since they've been with Shepard since the beginning).
I personally would also like Jack back, but I couldn't list her when trying to make what is in my mind a realistic prediction.

I think most if not all of Shepard's old squad are going to get KIA'd, hence the reason for new squaddies that we wouldn't ordinarily need.

Look at it this way. We get to run with and help stop the reapers with All the cool kids. But at the same time the cool kids have things they must do as well. So it's not you and all your mini shepards on one tiny ship. It's you Running around the galaxy doing the hard stuff while all your mini shepards are there amongst their people doing the mini shepard thing and getting all that groups on your side and when you both are in the same neighborhood then they gladly drop things to help you or ask you to come assist them with the problems that are too big for them to handle as Mini-Sheps themselves.
it also may mean we get to run with other top dogs or old guard that we've only been able to talk to in passing up to this point and really see them in action this time instead of little ignorable guest npc's to keep them all safe or something like Kal'Reager or Anderson.
