Collector's Edition cover looks great! The Xbox bar is necessary for all Xbox games, so I can deal with it.

store.origin.com/store/ea/en_US/pd/productID.231087700/sac.true

Not a fan of the purple Kinect bar though.

I believe that there are many people interested in the Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 3 who would rather not have that bar there.

I also believe that someone who is simply browsing the Xbox 360 catalog wouldn't be swayed to buy a Collector's Edition for a game just because it has that bar.

I hereby request that BioWare talk to EA and Microsoft and try to convince them to remove that bar from the Collector's Edition. There is plenty of time until the game launches and I honestly do not see any possible effects sales-wise. As long as it says Kinect under the feature boxes on the back of the game box itself, there should be no confusion as to whether the Collector's Edition can use Kinect or not.

So, am I the only one that feels this way?

If you disagree, speak up. And if you agree, the more support this idea gets, the better.

EDIT: added link to origin listing.

I agree, I suspect anybody who's actually interested enough in the game to grab a Collector's Edition won't be surprised to find out it has Kinect support.

I'm pretty sure this is a microsoft requirement for game descriptions/cover design, it is not a bioware design.

Right. I'm asking BioWare to try to convince EA to try to convince Microsoft to make an exception for one version (theoretically the one that sells less) of a game whose fanbase (I assume) would appreciate such an exception.

I'm kind of OCD when it comes to collector's editions, and I just feel that the bar completely throws BioWare's design off kilter.

Really hoping I'm not alone on this one...

So what possible Kinect features could this have? Import your own face would be about the only thing I could think of for a game like this... i mean guns and such... how do you fire a gun with Kinect? Point and move your thumb down for each shot? Srsly.

It is using kinect for speech commands nothing else.

Erm.

They showed the Kinect features at E3 the other day. Voice control for conversations (speak the appropriate dialogue choice and it'll select it) and commanding the squad in combat to use powers and move around.

OP: I agree, but it's not a huge concern.

The purple Kinect bar does bug me a little.

Ok, that's silly.  Though Kinect is the new thing so it must be exploited I guess. So, will the PC version have this feature?  Microphones have been on PCs long before Kinect was even a thought.  Probably not.

Am quite sure Jesse was actually pointing the cursor to direct the squad with the controller he had in his hands which if am not mistaken was a standard 360 controller.

I would love if they remove the purple bar, but I don't expect it to happen. Kinect is being pushed as hard as a peripheral can be pushed and Microsoft needs it to continue to be successful. If the choice is Bioware/EA's, then it is possible, but if the choice is Microsofts, then it is likely written into a Kinect-use contract and is non-negotiable.

@AbsolutGrndZer0: I'm not sure about PC. It's completely optional on Xbox, it's just an alternative to selecting the dialogue and moving squadmates with a controller.

@Sir Ulrich Von Lichenstien: In the Microsoft briefing demo he was definitely commanding the squad with voice commands. He specifically said 'Garrus, move up', 'Liara, move up' and then 'Liara, singularity'. They all did the commands he spoke.

Although the cover would be much better, more serious cover, I doubt it's removed. Still, I can dream, and the "Better with Kinect" could go in the back, and that's that: You have the kinect marketing, and the cover looks great!

Just my 2 cents.

I personally, kind of like the purple. Of course, I'm hoping for a steelbook.

Yup, after spending time implementing it, they will remove because a few people don't like it Image IPB

On topic, whilst I kind of see (though don't agree with) where the OP is coming from, this thread does prove people will complain about literally criticise anything on these forums Image IPB

Almost zero chance it will get removed as there is no way MS will want to miss the opportunity to promote Kinect, plus it makes sense from a practical point of view to display his info on the cover.

There's no way it will be removed. MS wants you to walk into your local Gamestop, Best Buy, Fry's, or whatever and see all the games with Kinect support. It's the "look, everyone is doing it!" effect.

Get used to the purple bar.
