Not this **** again. I loved the way ME1 handled ammo. The system in ME2 was an abomination (not to mention required serious retconning of the game lore). The new ME3 gameplay walkthrough clearly showed more heatsink pick-ups. I was under the impression that it was poorly recieved and was going to updated/removed, not kept completely intact. I hope that between now and release they go back to the ME1 system.
You were under the wrong impression.

What else am I supposed to do with these paper weights aside from duct taping them to Mouse 1?

It's a mechanic that works. It does it's job okay, it doesn't add anything to the gameplay, it's not inherently fun nor is it well made.
Creating a new ammo system way too complicated at this point. That's why Bioware kept it.

I do applaud the devs for not making them flash or giving them a "Oooh, here I am, HERE I AM!" effect like in ME2. But, maybe I just didn't get a good look at them?... Either way, I REALLY hope they're not made to appear THAT obvious again. Even for a shooter it was annoying. : /
In any case, I'm resigned to TCs now. I've played and seen cooldown systems that were balanced and very fun, more fun than having to manage ammo constantly, but I've accepted that Bioware's found a solution they're happy with.
In all honesty, though, the transition was handled rather sloppily.

Here how to describe the thermal clip system.

Considering that everything else was flaming (heh internet, what can you expect) this seems like the post to reply to. This is an argument I get behind and perhaps I did go a bit overboard. It IS a mechanic that works but is not really 'fun'. How about just increasing ammo stores by a certain amount, so no infinite ammo but no more pixel hunting/vaulting over cover/rubbing against cover to get that one clip. New ammo system would certainly be a minor issue and would rather they spend that dev time on better/more RPG elements.

Yep, I loved having that awesome heat mod that did insane damage, but only let me fire five shots an 'overheat' back in ME 1. Those were the days.
It wasn't hard to balance them, actually. And, all in all, it did give you more to think about than just "Which gun holds more ammo?"

Exactly. Many of 'better' weapon had pathetic amounts of ammo. One of the pistols comes to mind, if memory serves it had something like 25-30 shots.

What's the point of this thread. You didn't actually think there was a chance of the ME1 system coming back. You're just trying to stir up angst.

The one where the ME2 boards were evenly split about the topic. But you go on, its always amusing to see the uninformed flail about.

Get with the times. The ones who made ME1 are dead and were replaced by evil clones.
