Honestly I love them both. Now they both have their perks. I read earlier that in gears you can carry 4+ weapons when in reality it's three plus grenades, it's only 4 with a turret or something and even then you can either use it or drop it. Back to what I was saying yes ME3 is probably Gears3 gameplay, but it'll have Mass Effect's elements. In my opinion this is an improvement. The first game had crappy gameplay elements, ME2 had better elements, and ME3 looks like it'll improve slighlty on those said elements. Now like an earlier commenter said let's stop comparing two games that haven't come out, and two games taht only have one genre similarity and that is third person shooter. Not to mention two completely different stories.

As far as I'm concerned... the only thing keeping Mass Effect 3 from surpassing Gears is co-op.

Most of the heavy-hitter, industry standard, mega-seller shooters have co-op.

EDIT:  And not just online co-op... but split-screen co-op as well.
