This just brings memories of reading about the argument between two of the main devs about whether there would be more or less nations in the future, lol.

I am shocked and appalled to think that noone has conquered France in 2 centuries. For shame Bioware, if you want the game to be realistic SOMEONE has to conquer France.

Why do you think the Reapers hit Europe first?

This.

But to be serious, conquering France usually didn't mean staying there for long.
The last times France was conquered it was more a side effect of the actual goals of the conqueror and not its actual goal.

Considering that the Balkan Peninsula was always unstable, I do not see how this is surprising at all. On an unrelated note, good to see the Czech Republic is still standing :D

No it isn't.

We didn't had war over 10 years and no sign of having one any time soon.

And most wars on Balkan in last century were between Turkey and Greece.

Also Serbia and Montenegro war makes no sense. Both countries have great relationship for centuries and Radicals extremists in Serbia aim for Kosovo and Bosnia.

Heh, I noticed it too when I watched it but was too lazy to post about it. They must've google searched quite an outdated map of Europe when they were putting that video together.

I also then just assumed "Well, it's in the future... who knows what happened." ^_^

I doubt the Reapers even had to enter France. The French saw figures in the sky and instantly surrendered :alien:

Countries have existed for thousands of years. Why would they stop existing 170 years from now?

According to many experts humans always band together against common threats. First there were groups, then clans, then villages, then towns, then kingdoms, etc. In the event of a war between, say, Earth and Mars no country would be stupid enough to say "Nah, I think I'll just sit this one out." Similarly, when the conflict is between solar systems it would make no sense for individual planets to sit things out.

This theory has been proven time and again in history, as in 490BCE when the Greek city-states agreed to unite themselves under Athenian leadership to fight off the forces of Persia and then unite again in 480BCE under Spartan leadership.

Good argument but why didnt the chinese unite to fight against the mongols? Chinese eventually got conquered by the mongol empire.

I am surprised that the Europe is still split into Nations. I want to, and expect to, see Europe become a United Federation (or some other cool name) in the next 50 years. Possibly with Russia, though that is more doubtful.
In ME I also find it hard to believe that the EU aren't a single state due to the competition of the UNS (United North-American States) and the Peoples Republic of China (Which I expect is now democratic).
The EU today is already pushing towards a single state with the introduction of a unified foreign policy and possibly development of a Europe Defence Force. Once that is completed then a single state is only a signature away, it would act very similarly to the US, which by definition is a coalition of different "nations."

But to be fair France wasn't that pushover some people claim, they just lacked of "modern" military leadership in some occasions.

Yes but in the last years you can see national tendencies rise up again in polemic political disussions and such.
Especially we Germans terribly fail to point out the advantedges of the Union as we are the ones who profit the most of it.
The truth is that every country in the Eu can profit from it its just more difficult to explain.

And yet the Japanese united to hold back and defeat the mongols. Have you missed the part where I said we were all correct and arguing it logically would be futile since humans are by nature illogical?

First part ME3, it was a sarcastic notion because after the occupation suddenly everybode in France claimed to have worked for the Résistance just as suddenly there where no National Socialists in Germany (or Austria ;)).
The second was a refference to the 1870/71-war and ww2 the two most prominent occasions the french got their image from as pushovers.

Many things contributed to France's current image, the least of which not being that they disposed of their greatest leader (Napoleon Bonaparte) and sold their most iconic warrior to the English (Joan de Arc) and has only grown with repeated mistakes and foolishness on the part of France, such as letting **** Germany grow in strength and losing control over their colonies in Asia.

EDIT: lol just saw your edit. It is true, when the threat passed even the cowards claim to be heroes

Just as the English hate the Scots?
Wouldn't be that sure.
Once the "expansion" is over things have a chance to settle down.
You should not forget that a big part of the today Union was the enemy just 22 years ago.

I still believe in human nature -I know, it's stupid °_°

EU wont be a superstate though, im only talking about the UK here but lots of people in the UK dislike the EU intensely. I think the UK would just get some boats to tug it out into the atlantic and away from europe if the EU became one country...
