Why do you think the Reapers hit Europe first?
This.
But to be serious, conquering France usually didn't mean staying there for long.
The last times France was conquered it was more a side effect of the actual goals of the conqueror and not its actual goal.

No it isn't.
We didn't had war over 10 years and no sign of having one any time soon.
And most wars on Balkan in last century were between Turkey and Greece.
Also Serbia and Montenegro war makes no sense. Both countries have great relationship for centuries and

This theory has been proven time and again in history, as in 490BCE when the Greek city-states agreed to unite themselves under Athenian leadership to fight off the forces of Persia and then unite again in 480BCE under Spartan leadership.
Good argument but why didnt the chinese unite to fight against the mongols? Chinese eventually got conquered by the mongol empire.

In ME I also find it hard to believe that the EU aren't a single state due to the competition of the UNS (United North-American States) and the Peoples Republic of China (Which I expect is now democratic).
The EU today is already pushing towards a single state with the introduction of a unified foreign policy and possibly development of a Europe Defence Force. Once that is completed then a single state is only a signature away, it would act very similarly to the US, which by definition is a coalition of different "nations."

I am surprised that the Europe is still split into Nations. I want to, and expect to, see Europe become a United Federation (or some other cool name) in the next 50 years. Possibly with Russia, though that is more doubtful.

Yes but in the last years you can see national tendencies rise up again in polemic political disussions and such.
Especially we Germans terribly fail to point out the advantedges of the Union as we are the ones who profit the most of it.
The truth is that every country in the Eu can profit from it its just more difficult to explain.

And yet the Japanese united to hold back and defeat the mongols. Have you missed the part where I said we were all correct and arguing it logically would be futile since humans are by nature illogical?ChristianSoldier wrote...

First part ME3, it was a sarcastic notion because after the occupation suddenly everybode in France claimed to have worked for the Résistance just as suddenly there where no National Socialists in Germany (or Austria
The second was a refference to the 1870/71-war and ww2 the two most prominent occasions the french got their image from as pushovers.

Just as the English hate the Scots?
Wouldn't be that sure.
Once the "expansion" is over things have a chance to settle down.
You should not forget that a big part of the today Union was the enemy just 22 years ago.

EU wont be a superstate though, im only talking about the UK here but lots of people in the UK dislike the EU intensely. I think the UK would just get some boats to tug it out into the atlantic and away from europe if the EU became one country...
