Oh OK. I see. Thanks.

Is that what we're calling them then. Perms?

I thought it was "full" squad members.

(though actually that makes less sense - full of what?)

Perms it is!

Why on earth does everybody want squad mates from the previous games for ME 3?

I like having a lot of squad mates from the previous games but I want to have new characters on my team, it would be just insane to have the only new person be James Vegas...

I wouldn't mind if like maybe five or six out of eight (not that we know how many we'll have in ME 3 but that sounds reasonable) were fro mthe previous games, that would be alright, but having it be like say seven to eight would just be silly. Even IF all the people from the previous games are the most elite in the Galaxy I'm still itching to get to know more characters.

Anyone agree with me here?

Honestly I want my ME2 squaddies because 95% of the game was building the relationship with them it would seem point less to not have them as my squad mates

Man, poor Jacob, he's the pepper to my salt, the Danny Glover to my Mel Gibson, the hot fudge to my Femsheps ice cream sundae. But just because he's not as popular as some of the other characters he gets the axe, thanks guys.

I'm actually hoping for some cool new characters to be permanent Squad Members.

Don't get me wrong, I love the old crew, but we need some new people to keep things fresh. I may not have liked Samara and Grunt as much as Liara and Wrex but they gave us new insights into the Krogan and Asari, and allowed us to see different sides of their culture.

If Garrus and Tali's confirmations mean no new Turian or Quarian squadmates then I feel like they've wasted an oppourtunity to flesh out the different races, especially if they are dead in someone's game and they get no Squad members of those races at all.

I don't mind the idea of Miranda and Jacob being temporary. I'd rather have an in-depth Cerberus based mission involving them both than the ability to take them to the Krogan/Salarian and Quarian/Geth conflicts where they have no real plot relevance at all.

As someone who got through ME2 without losing the teammates I liked, It would slightly irk me if in ME3 they had ready replacements for all the ME2 squaddies that died. You lost Tali? Here's Telli! It seemed that was the whole point of ME2, if you lost squad members it was a big deal. My gut instinct for ME2 players that did lose teammates is to go back and play through again so you don't lose them. And, if you want to RP it out that your Shepard lost them, then tough it out in ME3. At least that is what my instinct says, perfectly understandable if everyone else wants to burn me at the stake.

Why make new characters with only a single game to develop their personalities when you can further develop already established and fleshed out characters?

Because there are already too many and it just seems a little illogical

There's too many....so let's add more?

Grunt would make sense, seeing how Shepard can be his battlemaster/pimp.

Miranda has a chance (though I would rather have a NEW character), but I would hate to see Thane's return as a permanent companion. Has everybody forgotten that he is dying? Have you considered the fact that the SM may have placed tremendous strain on his already fragile body?

I think BW said that they were going to reveal two new characters at E3.

I don't think Thane is a squadmember... wouldn't make sense... the whole 'dying' thing would be an issue at this point, but who knows?

He had 8-12 months. I bet he's got a little more fight left in him.

I think Miranda's Cerberus ties will be an issue, so I don't think she'll be one of the last two.

I think Grunt, Thane, Jack in that order are the most logical candidates for final squadmate.

I hope we get both, as Miranda is hawt and Thane was one of the coolest team mates we had in ME2.

Same here, on both my playthoughs I took the time to do the loyalty missions, even before I found out that was the key to their survival and I want that decision to effect my ME3 experience, otherwise what was the bloody point of the suicide mission?

If memory serves me well, BioWare said that decisions made in ME1 and ME2 will have a much larger impact on ME3 than ME1 had on ME2, meaning if you let most of your ME2 squad die, you will have a much smaller team to choose from but you won't be penalized completely - there's still Ashley/Kaidan Liara and Vega. As for the "new renegade female char", she hasn't been confirmed as a permanent afaik, but even with her its 6 squadddies, so room for another 2-3.

Miranda was and remains an important character, given her ties with Cerberus and LI status, so I expect her to have a big role in ME3 (also applies to Jacob to a lesser extent). What that role will be is anyone's guess. BW did say that there will be no new romance options in ME3, so she's bound to be back as a LI at least, as for squaddie status, maybe on a Virmire type mission where you choose between her and Jacob and the survivor gets added to your squad? (Although why anyone would rescue Jacob is beyond me, Miranda ftw :P )

Thane and Jack were LIs, so will be back in some form, no idea in what form though. Samara/Morinth are cameo/temp candidates if you ask me . Would love to see a Krogan as a permanent, Wrex was my bread and butter in ME1, Grunt not so much, but useful nonetheless. Legion is another story, we saw him in the extended gameplay demo, would love to see him back as permanent but makes sense he'd be a temp for quarian/geth related missions.

In the end, it's all speculation, but hopefully wel'll get some info on this topic before E3 is over, the Live Q&A on Thursday is the perfect chance to ask, if only they'd give us info on how to submit our questions.

Jacob abilities are poor because Miranda stole all his skills. And Slam from Jack.

Thane was one of the greatest characters in the series. Voice-wise too. It'd be a shame if they threw that away. Besides he's the only Drell besides his son, that we encountered. That's an entire race.

I haven't seen Jacob confirmed yet either, so what gives there?

Honestly, I'd PROBABLY rather have him over Jack. He had so much potential as a character and it got blown by whoever the writing team was.

EDIT: Thane was to ME2 what Garrus was to ME1.

He DEFINITELY should be brought back.

If I were to rank who SHOULD'VE been brought back from ME2 in order (excluding Tali adn Garrus):

1. Thane
2. Miranda
3. Legion
4. Grunt
5. Mordin
6. Jack
7. Jacob
8. Samara
9. Kasumi
10. Zaeed

I personally would like to see at least one squad member from each race, Adding new members keeps the game fresh, I'm not saying I have a problem with the old ones but this is a new game lets have new squad members.  I would love to see cameo's from all the old members but not as permanent members, maybe have specific missions that they join you on and then they move on or hang-out on the Normandy for dialogue options.  The only exception would be the LI from ME2, I think they should be in ME3.

Personally I hope neither Miranda or Thane are permanent squadmembers. Thane should be dead, and Miranda... well I couldn't care much about her. I'd preffer Jack and one of the 2 krogans on my team anyday.

Be that as it may, Jacob still has an effective build.  In any event, I don't see Thane playing a huge role in ME3.  Miranda, though, has what can only be described as borderline plot armor in ME2.  It isn't impossible to get her killed, but it's difficult to the point where I can't help but think the developers have something special in mind for her.

I don't know how much fresher new characters will make things better.
I mean to new players everyone is fresh anyway. Sure u need one guy like Vega to ask the noob questions but past that I don't think it matters. Maybe a female.
But if Most of ME2 who were not in ME1 don't get to be squaddies then what was the bloody point of ME2.
