So I start up DA2 to putter around with my third playthrough, and it loads fine. I get a notification at the launch screen saying that I need to update the Terms of Service agreement, and I do so (note that the last time I'd played was last night. I have no idea if this is connected or not). After about 20 seconds of play the game crashes and I get the lovely "Dragon Age 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close" error message. I blink, because I've never had any issues with DA2 before, but whatever, and I go to re-start the game.
Nothing happens.
I have tried launching from the desktop, from both the DragonAge2Lancher.exe and the DragonAge2.exe in C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age 2, and by re-inserting the disc. Absolutely nothing happens (in the latter case, the disc drive makes noise like it's reading the disc, and it recognizes the disc as DA2, but again - nothing). I tried with Mass Effect 2 to see if it was a problem with the driver and it booted fine.
Ideas? Thoughts?
Suddenly unable to launch the game

You need to provide more information for someone to begin to guess at the problem (there is a big reporting format thread pinned to the top of the forum). Did you apply the newest patch? If so, were you able to play afterwards? What is your video card and driver?

Yup, I installed patch 1.03 and have played since then for several hours with no problems.

Your PC system appears to be an antique, with a CPU that hasn't been produced in four years or so now, and a GPU from six years ago. It will have been sorely pressed to do much of anything already, and probably has far many more reasons *NOT* to run correctly than vice versa, but you want us to exercise our magical ESP powers and figure things out without giving us any more than a tiny nugget's worth of the required information? Not happening, sorry.

Problem solved. (Desperate need to update both PC and knowledge of PC workings, however, is an ongoing struggle). Lock.
