I been wondering this.......if you hear the reapers they make this kind of creepy noise, I have heard it from soverign, the baby reaper in mass effect 2 and the new videos of mass effect 3 out now. they make this loud and very creepy sound, beside just to make the game feel more epic is there any other specific explanation for them doing this? maybe part of indoctrination? or communication?

It's the same noise Powell and the other colonists refer to on Eden Prime if you rescue them.

in their case then it was part of either slow indoctrination or comunication with the geth.

Reaper flatulence.

Sounds like motors to me.
Organic equivalent would be the creaking of joints/cracking of knuckles.

Reminds me of the noise the Martian war machines made in War of the Worlds.

A better question...if a reaper reaps your family in a forest with no-one around to hear it, do they make a sound when dying?

Aaah that one. Well transformers used it and then honestly everyone doing anything that resembles giant robots started using that metalic sound in that way. Also I would think it retarded and degrading that a super advanced robot race is still comunicating vocaly.

I think the idea of that it's communicating is the most realistic one of them. But anywho I LOVE that sound makes the game so much more awesome

How about one?[/url] I think it has something to do with indoctrination because I have a sudden urge to post Cerberus support threads.

I think that's the way they communicate. And to scare the living **** out of their enemies.

An episode on Bioware Pulse covered Reaper sounds. The way sound designers saw it, it was a means for the Reapers to communicate during battle. Kinda silly if you ask me. I guess the actual purpose is up to the writers, in which case it's either indoctrination or a means of intimidation/disorientation.
