Soldiers, even physical prodigies, are typically wiry rather than bodybuilder-bulky. That said, I'm sure the more physical female characters could do with a de-bimbofication, especially after ME3.

You guys need to remember theres more to this than mere lazyness.
All characters have to conform to a specific body plan for cut scene purposes; even garrus and wrex conform to that body plan. This rules out particularly wide or narrow shoulders or different height ranges.
Secondly, you don't just "change someone's body mass" (unless you take the skyrim approach which even then is very limited in scope), for major, noticable shifts in body mass you need a completely different body mesh; this means multiple outfit sets being available. A muscley Ms Shepard would also require muscley off-duty outfits. A skinny Mr Shepard would require skinny off duty outfits too.
The alternative, if you have LESS armour sets (or even *1* outfit that you recolour), in exchange for greater body variability between individuals; like borderlands did (In BL every character is practically unique)
