Oh boy. This thread is really just about catering to the people who have a fetish for body builder women on steroids. Have a look at these. Not every soldier is super cut. There is a difference between body building and being fit.
Natural muscle growth on females will never look like the woman on the pic above. Take a look at weight lifters. Do they look like that? No!

I'll puke over my desk if I see a Female Arnold Schwarzenegger in my Ashley romance scene in ME3. The females are just fine right now. Thank you.

and why would future soldiers care for looking like fitness models since having this sort of definition and size adds very little to strength and capability? fitness models work out specifically to achieve a certain look. some of them are fitness competitors and CAn actual perform quite impressive fits of strength, but most of the gym work they do? its not to be able to go through their routines. its to look a certain way. Soldiers don't need to look a certain way, they only need to be able to perform.

I agree with most of what you're saying, CrashDown, but I think your example might be flawed - don't the Israelis have lower physical requirements for their personnel, since the Israeli army is a conscript service?

Female bodybuilders may not be the right look, but the spaghetti arms we see on FemShep in the Little Black Dress do not convey "I can punch a krogan and live to tell about it", which is even more suspension-of-disbelief-jarring IMO.

I want my femshep to have a bod like that.

do you have any idea how much work and specific diet + supplements it takes to have a body like that, with that low of a bodyfat content?  Even professional gymnasts are not as defined.

fitness models look the way they do becasue its their job.  its ALL they do.  train to look this way.  look at the sirque de soleil acrobats one of these days.  now those men and women are exceptionaly strong and fit and flexible and capable.  but... they look pretty nromal sizewise.  wiry one can say.

this above?  female MMA fighters don't look like that either, unless they double as fitness models.  some might have bigger arms, but this above?  femshep woudln't have enough time for something like that.

It's actually not as hard as you make it out to be, and femshep's job involves plenty of exercise.

Now... could she send a krogan reeling with a rifle stock to the face?

Femshep in M1and M2 was anything but muscular.

She is an elite soldier, there is no excuse, you have never been disturbed before. So why now ?

Because of the Ashley thing.

Oh I see. All the excuses are good to shoot on anything.

Well, I mean, if you're complaining about how Ashley's clothing choice makes her look un-soldierly, it's only a hop, skip, and a jump from there to noticing how her entire body doesn't look very soldierly - and, by extension, how FemShep's body doesn't look very soldierly.

Okay.

But from the beginning, FemShep and Ashley 's Body don't look very soldierly.
I can't seriously believe that no one noticed that since 2007.

Everybody have seen it, everybody knowed it. It was like that at the first mass effect, the same in M2 and it will be like that at the end. Why is it a problem now ? If they will have their armor during the fight ?

Her legs are boney as hell too. It's surprising she's even able to carry a bunch of weapons let alone be able to punch a Turian without her hand shattering.

it requires working out daily more then one workout a day - you usualy end up working out a minimum of 4 hours sometimes more depending on how geneticaly blessed you are.  very specific diet.  a good night's sleep. and supplements.  to look like that girl?  its a lot and lot of effort of working out in very specific ways.  I can see femshep lifting weights for strength, running for endurance and sparring to keep her hand to hand fighting skills sharp.  but that won't build this sort of body.

women are not naturaly predisposed to look like that, no matter how much they work out.  we don't have the necessary hormonal balance.

Now... could she send a krogan reeling with a rifle stock to the face?

if she were trained how to use the leverage of her body - yes.  ever seen short guys throw much bigger guys around?  all it takes is knowing how.  but that's a different issue... femshep fights like she is much bigger then she actualy is.  realisticaly she would have used different tricks to account for smaller size and leverage, but I'm asking too much.

I completely agree, dude.  I honestly don't think that FemShep/Ash's physical builds are a problem at all.

Though I think that other people brought this up earlier.  I mean, plenty of people in this thread have said that they've felt that FemShep/Ash were too...insubstantial for awhile.

I agree with CrashDown, but I also agree that the body build for femshep and Ashley is not right. They look like they live a relatively unactive lifestyle the way their body is shaped.

This pretty much.

Her figure makes the punching Turian bit a bit of a "..." moment.

(granted that goes for dude Shep too because at the end of the day it's still a Turian).

Her looking like the female bodybuilder is a bit much yes. But those spagetti arms? Eh...no. Mixed with the fact that she uses male Shep's animations when attacking and it doesn't look right.

Actually, you know what bugs me more? Heights.

Play like . . . any game everywhere. Everyone is not only the same body type (unless they go above and beyond to create a "fat/old" version, but that's pretty rare), but both genders are almost ALWAYS the same height.

It's incredibly silly. I mean I'm an average guy - 5'11'', totally average build. But my three closest male friends, one's five foot four at the most, kind of stocky, one's my height but definitely "portly", the other's a couple of inche's shorter, but super skinny. His wife is an Amazon, at my height and very buxom, the gf of my portlier friend is shorter and very hippy, and my last girlfriend was shorter still and a twig.

That's just seven people and we run a gamut.

But in a game?

All Men - six feet exactly and with an athletic build.
All Women - five foot four and with an athletic, but frailer build.

Serioously come up with like - 3 noticable variants to build/height and let them mix and match randomly folks.

Some women are, add that to eating healthily and doing regular (at least 4, 50min gym per week) plus having an active life style and you're set.
Femshep would def have this, especially since keeping fit is a requirement in the military in which she served for ages so time factor would not be a prob.

Its just an entertainment industry thing. I mean Angelina Jolie was starred as Tomb Raider. In the mortal kombat games, the guys look like they're on roids, and the chicks look like they are pornstars.

Yep, there's no reason why manshep can be as buff as he is but femshep has a boney physique that makes her look like she'd have a hard time being able to fight Chakwas or Kelly, let alone engage in any combat on the frontlines.

It's funny how female bodies were made to sell, yet the majority on these forums so far doesn't agree with the design and plenty more don't even care.

I wouldn't have as big an issue if Dude Shep didn't look so fit. He could stand to be a little more lanky.

Obviously the opinions of the subset of people on BSN who are vocal forumites are not representative of the opinions of BioWare consumers in general.

And yet Bioware listens to people here?
