I like muscle, but not overkill.

This is exactly how I want FemShep to look like in ME3, capeable, tough but still feminine.

Where you the one talking about how females in me are made to look girlish to appeal for sex? Because this pic is def all about sex. You seem to be saying:

"blah blah blah, not realistic, blah blah blah, just for sex"
And then go on and post pictures that get you off, understand you have a fetish for this stuff, but you are being a total hypocrit. If you want them to look like soldiers, this is NOT a good example to post.

They do fight in frontlines, the real issue is how many get raped by fellow soldiers and officers.

Yeah, it is rather odd. Hell, FemShep still punched out the Shadow Broker despite having arms on par with or even smaller than the average modern male.

It is rather uncanny. Halo: Reach also did this in an odd way, with arms/shoulders looking like sticks compared to their male counterparts (though the legs were equal...)

Agreed... Females need bit more muscle mass to be believable. That's one of the reasons why female Shepard seems like total fiction to me!

pfffft.. what's up your ass? also, who are you addressing here? Me or Woldan?

Also, I do not, for one second, even think of shagging this person in this picture. Do not make assumptions about people you do not know. Yes, it is appealing to look at, but not in an erotic manner. For me, at least.

Don't really care. It only becomes a problem when you think too much about it.

I think Shepard's strength is in large part based on cybernetic enhancements, muscle weave, etc, that is material objectively stronger than normal muscle but occupies the same amount of space. That's why she looks less large than a similarly strong normal human would be, if there is one.

I think that all female humans (and elves, for that matter) in post-NWN Bioware games have arms like sticks. Initially I assumed it was because thinner arms would make it easier to avoid clipping in animations, but if that's the case then why isn't the same true for males?

Aveline being a wonderful exception. Another reason to appreciate DA2.
Although that didn't stop them from giving most human females exaggerated idle animation.

They don't have to make the actual model all buff and stuff, just use skin textures on the body with shadows. i dunno..

I was just reading through the these Ashley threads and thought back to both ME1 and ME2. And when I think about it it's odd that female characters really looked so fragile. I rewached the sex scene from ME1 and even Ashley didn't have an athletic body. I mean shouldn't soldier women be a bit more muscular? I can understand some are using biotics and stuff, but still, they are suposed to be in a good condition to run fast and take hits, sometimes maybe even fist fights can take place. If you'd ask me I'd say that both Jack and Miranda for example should atleast have visible abs, and at most some visible biceps, yet they have a flat stomach and thin hands.

So what do you think?

I'm a soldier by profession and I work with and have worked with quite a few women and I can't remember any one of them having an athletic body, all of them were slim, except one who was fat and lazy and eventually fired...

How many of those women were in the spec ops?

I would personally love to see some muscle tone on femshep at least something on par with what you can find in women's tennis or a swimmers body. That said I don't know how much weight such arguments hold in a sci-fi setting with genetic engineering and cybernetics. The problem is that there is ground to argue that Shepard really should not have a buff build even in the male case.

If the cybernetics were to let's say take 90% of the load on Shepard's body due to the bone enhancement and microfibers then his/her muscles would only experience a very light load in day to day life. Now as we all know muscles respond to stimulus or lack of stimulus. This would result in muscular atrophy unless Shepard trained to retain that muscle and I don't recall seeing Shepard in a gym.

True, my only real gripe with the character models is a lack of diversity in body builds. However it's not a big deal really.

Just my 2 cents, even though it has all been said before:

1. All Alliance Soldiers are genetically modified to be somewhat superhuman

2. Mass Effect armor is basically a power armor that enhances strength etc. by kinetically augmenting the users movements. Why would a soldier need weight and muscle size behind him and how much would it add to your punch when it's already greatly augmented artificially? ME armor makes it an option to punch and hurt things like Krogans. Without it I don't care how big a human you are, you're going down in two seconds.

3. I thought the arm size and body type from the ME2 Kasumi DLC dress was much better. The arms are bigger and more defined. The only reason Shepard always had skinny arms is because she used the same game models as all the other females in game.

Having said all that, I wouldn't mind a bit more definition, but not size. Size always equaling more strength has always been a misconception as stated before. There's other things like muscle density and kinetics. Knowing how to fight is a big deal. Martial arts of all kinds is all about getting optimal kinetics and/or muscle usage against the most critical areas of a combatant in any given fight situation. Same goes for defending yourself.

Agreed. I don't look muscular at all (I even have a nice little scotsman gut), but I surprise people with my strength. Why? Because my muscles are toned, not bulked. I can't bench-press a car, no, but I can lift a 50pound box and carry it across campus no problem.

Shepard would be the same way. She'd have toned, defined muscles, but not big ones. And she wouldn't have a trace of body-fat, not with all the running and gunning she does + the superman metabolism that lets her drink ryncol without a trip to the hospital.

Christ, you people can whine.

It's simple: making human models is expensive. So to keep costs down, they make one model for men and one for women, and go with it. If they made a female model that was more muscular / MMA fighter style and every female in the game had that build, you would all be ****ing about THAT too.

In order to keep costs down, a single model is used. DEAL WITH IT.
