Anderson decided NOT to board the Normandy but stay behind and defend Earth, I dread an early death for him.

Considering the other alternative we were thinking was he was shot as he boarded, this is much better.

A pure Renegade Shepard probably wouldn't cry over someone dying, and I noticed that Paragon MaleShep
is normally stoic (which is probably the main reason people complain about lack of emotion in Mark Meer's voice acting). But with the Reapers attacking, the stakes are unbelievably high, and for all his/her awesomeness, Shepard is just one person. I'll be surprised if we don't get a Paragon Interrupt or something that allows us to shed a few tears if the situation calls for it.

I think the child was a way the game has to tell us how desperate the war is for Shepard.

Notice the lines:

"Everyone is dying"; Shepard knows this.
"You can't help me"; Shepard also knows this.

It was a touching scene. I swear as Shepard looked back into the vent seeing that little boy had run away you could see in his eyes...

...

DAMN IT! I WAS GONNA EAT THAT KID! SHEPARD HUNGRY!

....

Just kidding. But what I want to know is will Bioware be breaking that cardinal sin of *gasp* showing kids dying in a game? Thats a big one, and hey, fox needs more controversy to spin.

First child in the ME series! Now we just need an overweight person.... The ME universe doesn't have many fatties either apparently.

Now I wonder, are you retarded? You know damn well you can't kill kids in this game.

Renegade =/= evil. Paragon = hero, Renegade = anti-hero. I've browsed this thread and seen 3-4 people ask "DURR I  WONDER IF YOU CAN KILL THE KID!". No, morons, you can't. The last two "Mass Effect" games not showing anything remotely similar to child-murder should've been a big ass clue on this.

I don't think there's a single game where you can actually run around killing kids..

I don't even know if I'd call renegade Shep an anti-hero. An anti-hero is someone who's working towards a heroic goal, but for their own selfish reasons. Renegade Shep wants what's best for the galaxy, he/she just has a low bullsh*t tolerance. An anti-hero would be someone who might be helping to take down the villain, but only because they want to steal the villain's money afterwards. Think Jack Sparrow. But you're right renegades aren't necessarilly evil.

My Shepard spontaneously hugging people was bad enough

So true.

Some of my Sheps were all touchy-feely. Some of them were seriously not. Like when Tali finds her father, some will hug her, and some won't. Choice is good.

. Shepard needs to show emotional fatigue for making the hard choices. I would like to see some signs of PTSD.

Remember victory always has a price.

You're the first person to suggest shep show fatigue and signs of PTSD nice job I hadn't considered these two before but they too would add to shep's humanity and make him more real. Like I play the Akuze shep and when I play as her I'm forever terrified of the thresher maws. Other sheps are scared of them too but not as badly as Akuze shep when I've got that one's profile up I'm pressing the gas more and shooting more accurately with her.

Back in Advent Rising your character starts to show fatigue he does too many biotic powers and when alone in a hallway nearly falls over you see something is not right with him I wondered if all the biotic use could kill him later in the series but as well all know no second series was done. I'm equally as curious with shep will all the beacon and reaper exposure kill him? I love to see him weakened by the beacons in ME he recovers quickly but in Arrival it takes longer to me it's a sign his body isn't cooping so well and I'd like to see more times like this maybe we come into contact with uber super mother beacons that shep interfaces with and is not only temporarily blinded by the endeavor he can't walk hardly speak and must be escorted to the ship and medbay so now his team mates must protect shep who can't fight and can't order them around.

If I was given the choice in game to have to stop interacting with the beacons or shep will more then surly die because of the strain I'd say I'm still going to interact with them the need to know whats inside them is too strong.

After I read the spoiler I am a little deflated. I think my idea was better. It will still be effective though. Is that kid real? I hope not. I still think it is Shepard's psyche. I hope Anderson tells him that there wasn't a kid.
