An uneasy admission since I've always been a fan of the first one more then the second but judging from the gameplay video from Earth, the combat and movement feel much more visceral, fluid and less linear then ever. It's a bit early to say this of course but I'm impressed. Notice how Shepard jumps down together with Anderson, opens the door (camera work have improved, I kinda of almost expected something to jump up on Shepard while he is doing that, I hope for some horror elements at certain points of the game), the blast affecting the terrain making Shepard fall to another "level" - this is of course scripted but it feels amazingly fluid.
I guess my main point is my admission that so far in terms of gameplay now I can see the purpose and place of ME2 within the trilogy and the gradual change of gameplay for the better. Now if they add a bit of inventory and tuning our weapons like they say, keep the story up and wrap it in a great manner and this game is going to be the best trilogy I've ever played.
I think I can see ME2 role already in terms of development.
