I've noticed that for me at least, different drinks seem to go with different genres of games.

For instance, any kind of LAN party game pretty much demands beer.

MMORPGs go with energy drinks or anything with caffeine. You need something to keep you awake and sharp on those late night raids, right?

This may sound odd, but I personally find that adventure games with their any-pace-you-want nature seem to go well with wine.

Anyway, what drinks fit with which game genres for you?

MMOs --not drinks, but marijuana. Everything's more interesting if you're high

FPSs -- any sort of mixer, bonus points if you can get through one hour of play time drunk while not losing your temper from sucking

RPGs -- scotch or beer, for obvious reasons

RTSs -- Adderal

I'm with AR. I usually drink water (it's so good for you, ya know). But sometimes (especially if I've had a tough week), I like to pour a nice glass of Reisling. I think white wine goes better with RPGs. :P

Green tea. If it's a game with a involving story (so RPGs generall), scalding green tea is my drink of choice. Most people can't or just don't like to drink it that hot I love feeling the heat actually working its way through me. And it's very warming in contrast with the dark settings of most games.

But on the occasions where I'm playing some silly competitive multi-player thing with friends (and none of that over-the-internet nonsense) like SSBB or MarioKart, then straight vodka or dark rum.

I hope you know that a scalding temperature is not the ideal temperature for extracting the most flavor out of tea leaves, and green tea is weak enough in the flavor department to begin with.

regular mountain dew, livewire, or voltage are good for every gaming occasion. sometimes i bring in vodka, whiskey, and rum to make things even more interesting. although i did that more when i used to play wow. i had to find a way to be able to handle the massive amount of kiddies during some of the battlegrounds. plus, some of those battlegrounds were actually fun while i was plastered.

A glass of wine + a glass of water works well with RPGs, especially if they have a decent story. But I mostly drink tea since I play RPGs for such prolonged periods of time that wine is not ideal.

I play very little FPS these last years... but when I do juices (orange) and/or energy drinks do the trick.

or Ardbeg. I love Isle Islay scotch.

But as my team USA ladies know, I can't do beer or wine anymore so I cocktail. There is the right kind of cocktail for ANY occassion.

I find Negronis go well with DAO. The dark story lends itself to the bitterness of the Bombay Saphire and Campari with a hint of sweet finsh of the Cointreau. It is also reddish like all the blood in the game. :wizard:

When I plays a RPG, I like to have a drink of Spiced Rum with Coca-Cola. However with any game, I like to drink Coca-Cola.

Actually, I only play like 3 type of genres.

Order by priority:

1. RPG

Drink: Depends on season:

Hot days -> Water, Softdrinks

Cold days -> Tee, Cocoa

2. Adventure games

Drink: Depends on season:

Hot days -> Water, Softdrinks

Cold days -> Tee, Cocoa

3. Shooter (QuakeLive)

Drink: Depends on season:

Hot days -> Cola, Energy drinks (Redbull)

Cold days -> Tee, Cocoa, Coffee

I _never_ drink alcoholic drinks while playing computer ...

Alcohol for me belongs to a good dinner in candle light

I used to love playing battlegrounds with some vodka. I would always log on too late for anything guild related, so thats mostly what I did in my WoW days.

Nowadays, it's vodka and some sort of soda unless it's a Rock Band night with friends. Then, it's usually rum and coke to keep me awake.

Count me in for the water crowd. Apart from lacking all those funny side effects, it's the only stuff that keeps you alive, after all.

It's fun to play the occasional FPS game while drunk or high, but there aint no general game drinks for me
