Glad this isn't coming to pass, it was a terribly silly idea.

Yeah. I agree.

It would make the Reapers look sloppy, leaving Prothean things intact left and...oh. Right. Mah bad.

It has nothing to do with the reapers,  and it has everything to do with the gap between their time active and now.  They wouldn't have a decent genetic pool to reproduce or anything.

A surviving Prothean *could* be one of the 12 Ilos scientists who went to the Citadel...Vigil assumes they all died, but if they did, where'd the bodies go? Did the keepers clean them up? Maybe one scientist found his way to the Citadel's core (which no one has seen) and found some tech/power source/food source/whatever to keep himself alive, but was trapped in the core. (NOT in stasis, just trapped, like the regular way.)

I'm calling it now: this Prothean DLC character will happen.

It was stated that it being on there was a "mistake".

The real mistake is that it was revealed too darn early. Mark my words for I will be referencing this post when it comes to pass!

I wouldn't expect any Prothean to survive thousands of years. IMO, the only way a Prothean would live is through genetic recreation or cloning based on the Prothean/Collector genetic information EDI retrieved from the Collector Ship in ME2.

with so many squad members from the previous 2 games to pick from, it would be just a waste of resources and time to add a prothean squad member... you have a robo-dog apparently, what could a prothean do to help you take back Earth? call the ghosts of the whole (now exrinct) prothean race to scare-off the Reapers?

I'm betting it's real. And that it will be a LI. The Protheans had their own suspended animation pods that worked for many years, until they started breaking down. They also figured out how to get the Keepers from transmitting the signal to the Reapers... So maybe the survivors got to the Citadel and used that same knowledge to create a sleepy-pod.

I've never been satisfied that the Prothean's found it acceptable to sacrifice themselves to save the future races. Screw that. Why not just go to the Citadel and figure out how to restart their race?

Good it's not true that would be so dumb I wouldn't preorder the game solely on that alone. I don't want a prothean crewmember I like learning about them. To me its like I find some long lost civilization and I get to uncover its secrets but then suddenly I find a capsule with one of those long lost people still alive inside it and it auto opens up and I'm stuck with him now I just go to him and say how about A,B,and C and he'll be my living dictionary on the subject and no more exploration is needed sense he knows all that stuff. It really kills all the wonder for me.

I agree. They tried to cover it up, it was too late.

Does anyone remember the final mission in the Firewalker pack where we retrieve the Prothean artifact that was a large metallic like sphere. It then became smaller and has ended up in the Normandy on the table.

If Protheans will have an impact in ME3, I suspect that artifact will play a role. Perhaps for instance the Sphere is a type of suspended animation. Maybe it was a Prothean experiment and when the Protheans were attacked by the Reapers, they forgot about that Prothean in that sphere.

I've been waiting since ME1 to get a glimpse of a real and alive Prothean. So... this might be the turning point here.

Well, I am looking at the store at origin, and there it says a day 1 DLC for the prothean character.

Who is lying?

Technically nobody is. Chris just said it had been a mistake to list it, not that we wouldn't have a Prothean squad member.

He never said "there will never be a Prothean in ME3".

I am certain people said the same about a Geth squaddie. Legion rocks either way, and if the Prothean thing is done right, it will rock just as much. But in probably wont happen since its so risky.

Some people did indeed cry FAIL when Legion was introduced and thought until the final moments that he wasn't a squadmate no matter how much the evidence mounted.

Not to talk about the same looking ball on Eletania on ME 1, which imported to ME 2, but was said to have impact on ME 3. I'm with the Prothean, actually, it fits with coming with a succesful idea to defeat the Reapers. If a Prothean cannot I'm not sure who will can, but... dammit! He's DLC, he/she won't be so important :( Hello Sebastian from the space!

Exactly. They probably refused to believe because everything in ME1 inffered that ALL Geth were working for the Reapers, but he was used to introduce further knowledge of the Geth as well as set up a plot point into ME3 for the Geth-Quarian conflict. Since you are dirrectly fighting the Reapers this time, I would not be surprised if the Protheans had some involvement, considering they also mounted a resistance to the same threat. It might be a squaddie, another Vigil, a weapon, a ship, a station, or just about anything else is possible as proven by Legion. Its just too early to dismiss it simply 'cause "they all dead".

At best, all we know is that the name of the mission is called The Prothean. And during the course of that mission, we get a new character. That doesn't mean the character itself is a Prothean.

Zanallen has a point. Though I originally supported Legion, I do not support this new "Prothean" if indeed it IS a Prothean.

I support(ed) Legion, and not this "Prothean" for 2 reasons:
1. He was said to be stalking Shepard, and that Shep had to find out why. Most of us figured this meant he would be the rival throughout the game, but like Loghain, recruit-able. I loved that idea. Turns out, his implementation was nowhere near as sophisticated as I had wished it were.
2. The Geth aren't extinct. The Protheans are.

The Coelacanth were thought to have been extinct for 65 million years until one was caught off the coast of Madagascar in 1938. So just because every Prothean is assumed to be dead doesn't necessarily mean it's true.

Personally, I want a Prothean squadmate.

I found the Prothean artifacts in ME1(including the one on Eletania that required the Consort's gift), I found the ones in ME2, and I want a payoff in ME3.

I'd like a Prothean with me for it all.

And besides, Vigil on Ilos said that the Protheans were on the verge of unlocking the secrets of the mass relays just before the reapers attacked. No one else has unlocked the secrets of the relays...having a living prothean, possibly one of those same scientists who was working to unlock the reapers' secrets, would be invaluable in stopping the reapers. Just as having Legion around and the geth in general would be beneficial, given the heretics' knowledge of Nazara and the reapers in general.

Bioware brought the Rakatans back in KOTOR well, they could do it again.
