... there's been drama without me? A shame.

I love how Knight is all gleeful and "Let the fighting commence!"... I can absolutely imagine him now, leaning back with a fine cigar between his lips, amusedly watching the procedings... it's reason 567 to love you, Knight!

Ironically, that's exactly what happened haha

Speaking of red-headed-ness; ages ago in this thread I talked about finding some more old pictures of myself being a faux-redhead, so I dug around a bit... and I did find one where the colour looks nice, but the shape of my hair is really strange there, like I'm wearing a fur cap or something.

Regardless, I like it because that is Bruges in the background, a city I'm quite in love with.

Oh, and: I finally finished my very first ME2 playthrough recently, so I'll celebrate by practicing my kissing-on-camera-skills on my ME 2 box... turned out rather blurry, I seem incapable of taking a steady picture of myself today.

And I never thought it was possible for me to be jealous of one of my favorite game's box. Even if the box is uninspired and boring.

And speaking of which, I think ME3 should have a romance option that looks like you. Only it has to be unlocked by a unique one time use code...which only I happen to possess.

Yeah, red is a great hair colour in general (also for its rareness that seems to imply sophistication, as the quote illustrates).
Having this conversation I'm feeling very tempted to go back to dyeing my hair... I tried different shades of red throughout my teens and have just recently gone back to my natural colour.
Whom I really envy are those people with naturally red and/or ginger hair though, like Noilly...

Well, not really. I like Baroque poetry for this exact reason: it never means what it actually looks like. :D

Quevedo in that one voices a very old prejudice towards redheads. For a long time, it was considered as a mark of "something gone wrong" with the person since redhead was the mark of Caine. That´s why they were distrusted and often times, feared and ostracised.

Interestingly enough, in Egypt it was the "mark of Seth", and thus, redheads were considered stronger and brave people.

Nothing wrong with redheads for my part; I love them too though I´m more partial towards darker hair.

Perhaps surprisingly, I have pretty bad... um, ginger-dar, we'll call it. I've seen plenty of dyed red hair that I thought was natural.

I also think I'm probably more drawn to darker hair, brown or black and the like... but I usually get along quite well with fellow gingers. I feel a brotherly sort of kinship with them. Well, sometimes.

For the record, if it makes any difference: my post-haircut hair won't be any shorter than it is in that picture. I've never worn my hair terribly short, as I think I'd look weird.

Ah, ok, I took it to mean that red was a "sophisticated" colour because it is not commonly found in lower animals of the domesticated variety - instead it means that it is an "unnatural abomination" because it cannot be found naturally in other species?

Thanks for the historical tidbits, stuff like that is alway interesting to learn. I even think I heard that bit about Redheads bearing the mark of Caine somewhere before, at least I have a sort of hazy recollection of that fact...

I'm gonna take cover from all the rocks that are coming my way as I say this, but I think your brown hair is more beautiful lea, suits you so well :)

yeah yeah yeah go back go back go back....

Not that i'm biased of course...or even interested you underdstand...

Hm, I'm torn between the differing advise I am getting :)

But, I think I'll actually stay with the natural brunette for a while, that was the plan, so I guess I'm taking your advise Mia!

Perhaps I'll do one of these semi-to-non-permanent thingies soon, that wash out of your hair after a few days... they are never as dramatic in colour impact of course, but it's a nice way to have a bit of variety every now and then without changing your colour permanently.
I'll take a picture if I do...

Aww, thanks! <3
The ME3 bit made me smile, you are such a charmer Knight!

And your compliments are always innovative and unique in nature, which I think qualifies as reason 568.

I'll be sure to do that! Maybe I can even get a before and after shot, so we can all see whether the haircut was a mistake.

On a related side note, someday I really want to go to the annual Redhead Day in the Netherlands.

that's good lea, really pretty :)

I've never touched the color of my hair until a week ago. My hair is getting naturally darker in the roots year after year, so the hairdresser put some blonde highlights in the bottom of my hair so it'll look even. People hardly even notice, it's still MY color so to speak, it feels good cause I just want to keep the color I've always had! Have to fight nature ;P

Not really Lea; think simple: red = blood. And who´s the first murderer? Caine.

The scarcity is an extra plus, but also considering that tradition points out at conquerors as Temujin (Ghengis Khan was the title), Hernán Cortés or obviosly, Eirik Raude (Erik the Red) as redhairs...

I agree with Mia. Lea, you look absolutely stunning as a brunette. You can pull off the red (very few people can, even those born with it) but the brown compliments your skin tone SO much better.

Also, it's always good to work on your aim with objects that are closer to your "kiss radius". Still, you're a little off mark. You got the corner, not the cover.

I jest, I jest! It's an adorable photograph. I love the hair, and the earrings.

*Steals Knight's code*

I can't trust you with such things. Your hand gravitates towards unsanitary areas of your body. Shame, shame!

*Needs a haircut, a shave, and a tan*

Summer time is a comin'...

Yeah, I get that, but still, how does it tie in with the "no dog nor cat in that colour"- quote exactly? Inquiring minds have to know... ;)

@ Noilly, you do that, before-and-after comparisons of haircuts are always fun!

and @ Mia, in keeping with what I said above, I think new highlights do warrant the posting of a new picture of yourself with your new highlights, no?
I agree the fighting of nature is necessary, I get the feeling my own brown colour of hair has been getting sort of duller with the years, might have to enhance it to look like it used to at some point...

@ Godak, I know, I know, that's why I'm still practicing! ;)

And thanks for complimenting the earrings, attention to detail is always appreciated, and I happen to like them very much. (I have my lobe piercings stretched to about 2 gauge normally, but as I often forget to put in any plugs and go without for days, they inevitably shrink again and it's always a pain in the rear to stretch them back up.
ANYWAY, the upside is that I get to wear my "normal" earrings then without it looking funny.)

Nah, you can't really tell the difference in a picture :) And she didn't cut it very differently, just put some structure and layers into it... Doesn't show up so much in the pics either :P

I'm always available (one flight across the Atlantic, and the loss of a small fortune later...). My friends say that I'd make a good teacher. Posted Image

I like to think that I have good taste in earrings! The one's that dangle have always struck me as very elegant and fashionable. I know nothing about earring gauges, despite the fact that I've almost gotten my ears pierces on multiple occasions (I was thinking about it as early as last year). I'm guessing 2 is like medium-ish? Either way, yay for pretty earrings! Posted Image

Hm, still, I was more trying to find an excuse to coax you into posting another picture, anyway ;)

Oh and, referring to Statulos again, Cortés was a redhead?

I didn't remember that... although I'm generally fascinated with Cortés and the whole story of the fall of the Aztec empire.
I read an extremely captivating book on the subject once, but I don't think it's been translated into English ("Die Weißen Götter" by Eduard Stucken, published between 1918 and 1922).

... before anyone says anything, I think a wee bit of off-topic-ness is unavoidable in a thread like this.

"There's nothing wrong with off-duty distractions!", so says EDI!

Indeed, yah for pretty earrings! 2 is medium-ish, I refer you to this handy size chart.

Also, I'm sure your friends are right and you look good in a suit, and if you don't we need to see photographic proof that you don't, that's what this thread is for after all ;)

well... I only have a few new pics since I cut it, and the phone is in my face since my hands shake too much to turn it around and snap a pic (the button is placed in an awkward angle).. And I'd rather not show myself in that kind of tweeny style :P

Taking pictures of my brothers who have darker hair is fine, but me... only ghost pics!
