In any case it's interesting to read the
English pronunciation of the words spelled out, as the German
pronunciation of Latin words tends to be a bit different, more
"literal", pretty much the way it's written (something more like
"pull-cherr", with that peculiar "ch" sound we Germans make :))

Ah
yes, english (american in particular) latin :D. I cant stop grinding my
teeth or laughing hearing the pronauciation. And when I haerd "si vis
pacem, para bellum" in the Punisher movie I almost cried..(and the
movie is really BAAD!). Sound so feeble in english. And I think in
europe proper latin sounds everywhere the same - at least I refer to
Vatican - they should know the spelling/voicing ;) no?

and lea,
cool pic with...the guitar (I always refer to it as the picture with
legs :D), great shot, fine dim light capture, almost errotica. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]

and theres me, dont panic, its really me.
Deprived of sleep for 8 months (only about 5h of sleep a day) - this is
how a person looks like...neglected and malnutritioned too :D

They always do. I´m used to it. But I said: "Only if you go away, if you want to watch that´s 5 Euro for each of you. And 100 for photos / videos"

Apparently that was too much for them.

@Squiggles:  I haven't seen my natural hair since I was 11 or 12 years old...though my mom wouldn't ever let me use permenant at that time so I was stuck putting in semipermenant 24 shampoo crap in my hair but oh well.  It was a really really dark brown, I'm Italian so the dark hair and brown eyes was pretty much a hereditary promise haha.  The video clip you sent me is excellent! Haha.

11 or 12 years old? How long ago was that? My hair is its natural color right now since I'm still looking for and interviewing for work and all that jazz. Really wanna mess with it again though.

That clip was from the movie Blue Velvet, by the way. David Lynch makes some pretty awesome messed-up-in-a-good-way movies.

Well, I'll be 24 in May.

I am hoping I still get to have fun with my hair after I am done with school.  I am going to school to be a nurse practitioner so, it's doubtful I'll get to have colors like pink and purple, however, I can hold on to false hope haha.  Ah David Lynch, yes  I like him.  I'll have to watch that movie.  I just watched the Suicide Club the other night.  I love that movie.

Well, there have been proposals of marriage already, so you may have hope... although I have to say, my alleged fiancé Godak has been holding out on me lately, ever since I brought up that horrendously expensive honeymoon package

Indeed with the Latin.
I get the same feeling, an air of haughtiness and entitlement that tells me we (non English speaking) Europeans are the ones who actually do it right and do the roots of the language justice. ;)
Although I've also spent some time at a French lycée in a brief school exchange, and apart from the fact that I could hardly follow the lessons anyway, their pronunciation of Latin was slightly different as well.

Which is to say, even within Europe it differs somewhat, but in any case there can be no doubt as to the fact we have a better understanding of it en général :P
And really, if the Vatican doesn't know its sh** in that regard, I don't know who does anymore!

I'm glad you like the picture; secretly I, too, thought that although it's just a crappy snap shot is has a teensy tiny bit of the artsy about it, with the light setting and the composition... especially because of the rug, that rug really ties the room together!

You do look veeeery sleep-deprived (and extremely serious) in that picture - but actually not all that bad for eight months of poor sleep, I think it's your natural epic-ness that's shining through! (And don't you go reaching for that duel rapier again, I do mean it!)

Also, you have amazing, beautiful eyes, intense colour there - that didn't really come out in any of the earlier pictures, where The Nose was getting all the glory...
And thirdly, that is somewhat of a new haircut, isn't it?
... now go eat something.

@Steel Moon: Yeah, legwarmers are definitely an outer-wear essential in the colder seasons :)
I prefer wearing skirts in winter for some reason, and that's certainly not feasible without the aid of those handy warm-keeping items...

In quite a few schools it's the case in Germany, France etc., too, and that's a nice thing imo - I had to study Latin in high school as well, and though my skills are waning fast without constant practice, I do certainly not regret it.

Oh, Knight, you know I was jesting, I was just referring to forumite Godak's and my joking discussion about "flashy" wedding rings some pages back in this thread...
Though I am touched it would move you to evil plotting, it flatters my heart, as you know I have an extremely secret internet crush on you ;)

And Mavi, that's a nice ring indeed, I'm sure you won't have trouble finding takers with such a lovely piece, you should show it around more :)

Well Knight, I was taking your advise and infusing my statement with a subtle lack of subtlety to act as a subtlety all of its own B)
... and now I'm gonna, ehm, stand over there and grin contemplatively to myself for a bit.

Maviarab wrote...

Well, that depends entirely on what kind of capacity you intend the ring to fill, no? :)
A gift, a means of seduction, a proposal, a piece of jewelry to sell to make a quick bit of money... in any of those cases, it should serve you well methinks :D
