Has it been explained how the reapers have come to Earth so fast considering I have just destroyed the Mass Relay in the Arrival DLC pack?

I thought the reason I wanted to destroy the mass relay was so that it would slow the reapers down for several years.

Is Mass Effect 3 set straight after the events of Mass Effect 2 and the Arrival DLC, or is there a few years time difference.

Also, why is Cerberus now after Shepard?

If someone could answer these questions it would be most appreciated

They just flew back. Don't think about how this ****s the internal logic of the first Mass Effect, or you'll probably have a stroke.

I think Mass Effect 3 happens a few months after Arrival....which is still too soon IMHO...at least a year would've been better

How about you wait for the game to come out.
Bioware invented the story, I'm sure they haven't forgotten about it.

It starts about 5 months after the events of Arrival. Seeing as how the Reapers were two days away from that relay, it seems reasonable to believe they were already pretty damn close to the edge of the galaxy, so 5 months really doesnt seem that unreasonable for showing up at Earth considering that most of that will be them getting to the next relay and then jumping in to where they want to go. At least not in my opinion.

Pretty sure there's been 6 months between arrival and ME3. Who knows how much faster than light the reapers can travel?

It states in Arrival that it would only delay them by a few months to a year. ME3 starts some 6 months after Arrival.... soo... Not seeing the problem.

I assumed that the Reapers were on their way once Nazara was destroyed. It would certainly make sense since ME2's plot only had the Collectors in it because they were making a Human-Reaper hybrid. Its not like they were counting on their baby destroying all spacefaring civilizations.

This is what happends when you don't check the Twitter thread / Known Features thread on ME3 General Forum.

New people asks questions that have being answered ages ago.

It always repeats itself.

I'm assuming the reapers were travelling to the galaxy even before the events from ME, because they haven't heard from Sovereign.

You should ask who ever wrote the game story.

The game takes place months after Arrival, the relay would've had them come in 2 days and that's why it needed to be destroyed.

The reapers were only 30 minutes away when Shep escaped the asteroid which plummeted into the Mass Relay. Makes sense that the Reapers only took months

FTL travel is still applicable even without the Relay. Its been two years since ME 1 and it is explained in Arrival without the relays it would only take 6 months- 1 year to travel a crossed the galaxy without the relays, so since the Reapers INVENTED FTL, I think they got the whole flying instead of using the relays thing covered.
