I think these sounds, which are already in the game, could be used:
cb_ht_bldwood01
cb_ht_bldwood02
cb_ht_bldwood03
cb_ht_bldwood04

Okay, good.

Have you ever done this before? I tried to write a script in the scripted waypoint system that would look through the PlaySound() function for as long as the woodcutting animation was playing, but couldn't get it to work.

I was thinking of trying to make a custom placeable sound and then just activate it in the WP script.

Any other ideas would be welcomed.

You have to paint down a placed sound effect in the area, set to single-shot and deactivated, and then activate it using SoundObjectPlay in your script. You have to deactivate it afterwards as well.

Lugaid hit it on the head. Make sure the sounds have the correct Tags, also, for being called up. You may or may not also want to make the sound to be non-positional if you want to make sure the player hears it.

I'd posted in the custom content forum asking if there was a tutorial for custom sounds. No one replied. :(

Hey Kamal,

Are you talking about cusom placeable sound object? For that, just place a sound object and change the sound that it plays. It's just a variable that gets changed on the object.

I just downloaded a sound effect from the internet and put it in my campaign.

Here are the steps I followed.

1) Download .wav file.
2) Put it in the campaign folder (override works too and I bet .hak will work too, but I didn't test the .hak)
3) make a new sound object blueprint
4) in the "Sounds" field, add the name of the .wav file.

I can see the sound in the PowerBar browser function and I can make a custom placeable sound that works if I keep the positional box checked as false.  If I check the box true, it doesn't work.

Ideas?

I just got an error message from the toolset that said the .wav file was not mono and that mono is required for positional sound effects. That must be the problem.

Its okay though, I found another really good effect:

cb_pa_wood01

It sounds like chopping wood.

Works like a charm. Thanks Lugaid and Chaos. I scripted the sound object to come on at the right time and then delayed for it to go off and it looks really good. Wish I could make the animation line up with the sound...

Sorry MR came to this one late. I have a wood chopping sound in Caravan club, You can rip that from the campaign folder and give it a listen. Can't remember where I got it from.

I knew I had heard it somewhere. It's okay. The sound I found works well. It may be the same one you used.
