How much time has elapsed? Just wondering because if the Reapers show up at the start, and it couldn't have been THAT long since ME2....what the heck was the point of whatever it was the Collectors were trying to do. From what EDI says, the Human-Reaper was still a long ways away from complete.
So if the Human Reaper would have taken a while to finish, and not that much time has passed, why did the Reapers even bother with the Collectors in the first place? Why not just fly in and start the culling?
Time gap between ME2 - ME3?

If it only takes "a few months" for the entire Reaper fleet to fly all the way from dark space to Sol, I wonder what the purpose of all their scheming for the past two games has been.

The Reapers were already at the galaxy's doorstep during Arrival DLC.

I think its safe to say they've been "on their way" for some time now. Sovereign was already here and not to mention the ending cut scene of ME2 showed the Reapers right at the galaxy edge. By destroying the relay in Arrival, which at that point they were 2 days away, you haulted their progress by a few months before they either found a new relay to jump through and/or arrived at Sol.

The Collectors were never a plan to get the Reapers into the galaxy but were somthing that the Reapers set up every cycle so that they can test the races to see which race was worthy of "Ascendance" and to start the proces. Plan B to get the Reapers was the events in Arrival
