Considering the line said by Hackett at the end of Arrival, am curious as to whether we'll be able to decide what casual gear Shepard is wearing near the start of the game because the outfit shown in the gameplay footage of the initial Earth scene he certainly wasn't wearing what I'd consider formal' (casual) wear he'd wear at a trial in that instance, plus there is the 'Fall to Earth' trailer where there is a scene at about the 49sec mark where Shep can be seen wearing the standard Cerberus Fatigues.

I really do hope we get to choose and hope that new 'outfit' seen in the gameplay is a sign of us having even more choices for casual gear in ME3.

It seems to be a light armour set, and it was reflected in terms of game mechanics too- Shepard didn't have any kinetic barriers during the fights.

His health regenerated awfully fast, though.

Do you mean something like the casual gear we got in ME2? Like, hypothetically, Femshep being able to wear the dress she got from the Kasumi DLC? If so, then I agree, yes, it would be good to be able to "suit up" for the trial, so to speak.

My Shepard is wearing the N7 hoodie to his trial.

Ditto, I thought the same, we only had the alliance variant of the basic Cerberus fatigues we have in ME2 during ME, ME2 we also had the various suits. It'd be nice if we properly got the Alliance Blues in ME3 as another option.

Yup, if we get the chance, am so going to do that with my 'worse playthrough' shep I think seeing as am not taking that playthrough at all seriously

I think it was pretty obvious what we saw in the demo was not the first 10 seconds of the game. It's probably much like the beginning of ME2; remember how Shepard had to collect armor and a gun during the escape from Lazarus station?

The overall pace of combat seems to have been cranked up a notch. The dives and cover switching animations were fast too.

Methinks it's some light armour over his dress blues, probably put on after the Reapers showed up.

That or dress blues have gone all cyberpunk on us.

These sort of demos are usually done on super-easy mode, aren't they?

I kind of assumed that was just essentially a "cheat" used to make the demo easier to show, since it wouldn't do for the presenter to be getting his ass shot off all the time during a demo

Yeah I was going to mention this in my OP but accidentally knocked it out, there is also the fact that I imagine Earth to be 'Lazarus/Freedom's Progress' combined, it would also address why Ash is wearing the outfit she was in the trailer rather than full on combat gear (even if she could've decked out on the Normandy).

Could she? I think not. Since from the intro we know that at least the James Vega guy is around the shuttle evac spot which is nowhere near the Normandy landing spot, and yet he managed to get there, I don't see why she should. Plus, who says that the Normandy is equipped with personnel armour yet?

I don't complain about much, but this has been bothering me since I saw the video.  Why the hell wasn't Shepard in a military dress uniform at the trial?  Or is it customary to wear casual short-sleeved shirts to court?

It wasn't a trial, it was a hearing.

Court martial hearing.

Don't you need your uniform for those?

Do we know that for sure? It doesn't seem to me like the Alliance would have any grounds to court martial somebody who is no longer military personnel.

He never left the Alliance Navy. In fact, in ME1, when you're on Noveria and a few other places, you have the option of introducing yourself as either Alliance or Spectre.

We never actually got to see the trial so maybe that short sleeved outfit was what he was wearing underneath these dress blues and when all hell broke loose he ditched them to move easier.

Death doesn't count as a discharge from service?
