Yeah, Jacob has the latissimus dorsi and especially trapezius of a non-steroid user.

Vega, on the other hand... let's just say I hope they textured the acne on his back, for added realism.

And no, I'm not shouting "Steroids!" for malicious reasons.  Look.

I know you're just being your regular dick self, but I can't stop staring at your avatar.

Hey man I don't care if people are like, "Yeah he's probably on the juice but I like him/he's hot anyway."

But he's totally on the juice.  And he needs a haircut.  Otherwise, I'm cool with Vega.

just wait for people to head straight for the last part, completely ignoring the second but last part
then we're back to discussing him as a 'romance' option

All I got out of that was:

Steroid users often develop voracious sexual appetites (despite the fact that they're actually producing less sperm), along with feelings of euphoria and boundless energy.

Even if he is hitting the 'roids hard, I'm not only interested in his big, beefy muscles. I also think he has a lot of potential to be an unflinching Shepard supporter. And he has an adorable voice. But the muscles help. I like my men thick. [/shrug]

Though I do think opening a door and shouting STEROIDS into a crowded room is a bit much.

Sure, and I wouldn't have - well, maybe, but not this time - had James Vega not been compared unfavorably to Jacob Taylor, who seems more "natural."

I've heard enough rants from my trainer about guys 'roiding that it's practically a reflex for me now.

That said, exercise in general increases sex drive.  The same trainer talks about how at his gym alone there have been half a dozen women who worked out but whose husbands did not, and the marriages ended as the latter couldn't keep up with the former's demands anymore.

And from what I understand, some of the sexual bonuses of steroids - such as the one you quote - can be undermined or even reversed with masking agents.  But if James Vega isn't being tested for steroids then he probably isn't using any.

actually - wrestlers and grapplers tend to have larger then normal trapezius muscles, without steroids. especially if they are genetically predisposed. its like claiming that women of certain skinniness MUST be anorexic or bulimic.

Vega's build is absolutely possible without a single steroid cycle.

incidentaly - steroids get far too villified and their effects are too exxagerated for what they actualy do

Sure, it's possible.  It's just more likely that Vega's build was enhanced by steroids than Jacob's.

But really, I do not care as much as my brief tangent lets on.  The idea that he is roiding amuses me, though.

Well it would need a lot of weigth lifting and eating properly for a regular guy.

And most people have literally no idea what "eating properly" in the context of HOW TO LOOK LIKE JAMES VEGA actually calls for.

likely doesn't mean deffinitely and I'd rather not make snap assumptions like that.

and who's to say that he gained all that mass rapidly - dude could have been on a highschool wrestling team and lifting/protein gorging for years for all we know.  not to mention - there are other performance enhancers aside from steroids.

It just makes my Vega headcanon more amusing, it's not like I expect the issue will even come up.  Maybe, if at all, it'd be in a Shadow Broker Dossiers kind of Easter Egg.

PS: Vega lives in the future, who knows what methods they have developed by 2180something

he's actually too msucular - however he acquired the muscles - for my personal taste and yet I find him strangely intriguing ...

if I can like Kaidan despite the hair bump, I guess I can like Vega despite the Mohawk
though I do have a funny mental image of Shepard chasing after Vega with an electric shaver for head hair

If you notice, all the men in ME are pretty well built. Even politicians like Charles Seresino sport a six pack. I don't think it'd be that far of a stretch that with genetic enhancements, Vega's build, which today would resemble that of a steroid user, would be of someone who hits the gym quite frequently and is just a big guy in general. Thats just my justification.

Yeah even Udina looks pretty good. Shepard's apparently getting pudgy in ME3 though. :D

Haha! I laughed so hard in that part, even more when he touched his sides in a guilty fashion after Anderson's remark. =]
