I'm confused. I read all of the leaked info (I have no willpower), and I didn't see anything about a romance. Is this from something else?

Some people got their hands on the beta and extracted other files/more information. I can confirm that the beta is actually online, though I can't say where for obvious reasons.

Oh, no, trust me -- I've read the files. At least, the ones that were readily available after the leak. I'm not proud of it. My curiosity was going to eat me alive anyway. But I saw very little about Vega.

No, not THOSE files that were posted online. Other information extracted now that the leaked beta is online for download. I'm unsure whether it was just information that didn't get posted or if it's separate files that were extracted later, seeing as how I don't have access to the actual files in question.

why it's pointless they're out of date for all we know they probably changed everything considerably

I'm preeeeetty sure they said they haven't changed that much. They said it was out of date, not that it was completely incorrect. It's not 100% representative of the final product, but that's still it.

Wouldn't be the first time they lied to cover their tracks, though. Happened a lot in ME2.

I really don't see any reason why he shouldn't/couldn't be a romance, as stated before it makes sense especially for new players who don't want to go back and play both 1 and 2 to get to know the whole story of the already established LIs.

I haven't read any of the spoilers though *pats self on the back* so I guess I'm just making a pretty uneducated guess tbh

If these new leaked files are right then Vega is definitely Hispanic/of Hispanic descent. This line somewhat confirms it...

"So you do care, Mr. Vega, or is it the cerveza talking again."

"Cerveza" is the Spanish word for "beer."

.....that doesn't make any sense. If there's a translator in every soldier's head, it shouldn't matter if Shepard swaps between multiple languages, it should all sound like English.

Unless the translator only translates alien languages, in which case it wouldn't really matter. But I don't know much about the translator in question, to be honest.

Why would the Alliance make a translator that only translated alien languages? If that kind of technology is available, why wouldn't they include all possible human-languages, too? Especially since the Alliance is supposed to be for humans of all nationalities, not every soldier would necessarily speak English. I was under the impression that every soldier was outfitted with a translator that translated everything into his or her preferred tongue.

....but I'm taking this way too seriously. I apologize.

I have it so my main Shepard, and possibly the spare I featured about two pages ago, swear in gaelic when something frustrating happens. Heh. Leads to some funny conversations between him and the love interest, 'specially Liara who has little to no knowledge of Earth Language... I reckon she'd think he's speaking Prothean. Poor Liara.
Though, my main Shepard's LI is Ashley.

Anyway, back to James please people.

Depends on the way the world evolves. Most people today believe that our societies are going to evolve to have one "elite language" and other personal languages too. It's already happening; most people in other industrialized parts of the world are bilingual, and most of them speak English as a second language. English is "the language of the elite" because the United States is the world's biggest superpower. It's possible that in the future everyone could speak English aside from their own native language, leaving no need to create such a complex translator that would have to sort through so many different languages on top of already having to deal with non-Earthling languages.

All other LIs characters can go home. Shepard and Vega can handle this.

This poor post took me ages to write because I had to struggle against the urge to use all caps. Do you have any idea how difficult that is when you're as excited as I am right now? Be cool, self. Be cool.

No plot points from what I've seen! Just little bites of dialogue.
