Those three differ greatly, being myself Argentinian (wich sounds very italian)... Even in my own country the accent differs from province to province, greatly.

Spanish accent is only from Spain... I only wanted to correct that. Because maybe the guy says that he's Latin American (born in Bolivia, he doesn't goes into details so this is unknown) and not european (in case he really is from Spain), but people expects him to sound like a mexican.

I meant "Spanish" accent in the sense of an authenic accent of the language. I meant simply that I don't care if he sounds Spanish, Argentinian, Colombian, Venezeluan, Mexican, etc. I meant I'd be annoyed if he spoke Spanish and had a heavy American accent. That's exactly how it works with this character in Jurassic Park: her accent fluctuates from a Spain Spanish to a heavy American accent. It's really, really bad. As a native Spanish speaker who's grown up around Hispanic from all over the world (I'm Venezuelan but I know Cuban, Dominican, Colombian, Mexican, Spanish, etc. accents really well), it irks me to hear this character sound like she took Spanish 1 and 2 in College and called it a day. :?

Yeah, I just made that point because maybe we are pissing on the acting of the poor guy, when he is not even from where we think he is.

Or maybe he is from there and just has a different name you never really know nowadays. (Unless it says he isn't from there on another site....)

Well, one has to admit that he *is* a particularly yummy-looking pixel man :D

How do you guys feel about the non-romanced characters potentially hooking up? Since we don't really know anything about this, who do you think Vega would hit it off with (if you think he would)?

I personally could see him with Ashley. :)

^ I can definitely see him with Ashley, but I'd much rather have him with Shep. ^_^ I also think Steve/James could be cute too, with how much they tease each other.

Usually I feel okay with non-romanced squadmates hooking up (Dragon Age 2 plays here as good as in any other relationships between characters - just brilliant), if it isn't too much couples.

James and Ashley? I definitely see this one happening... they would probably tease each other to death :)

I didn't want to mention the Steve/James pairing because that would have been spoilerific for some people, but now that you've come up with that, yes, I picture these two together. :)

That pairing would be soooo cute! <3 I could see an Ashley/Vega pairing, but I like the steve and Vega pairing more. Shep/Vega pairing would be my ideal though. ^_^

@littlenikki - He is one of the npc's on the Normandy, its spoiler territory so I am not sure what to say about it, unless you don't mind spoilers then this group will have the answer to who he is!

Hrm...yea I think I'll just wait on that one. I've already read a bit too much than I would have liked, so anything spolier related I'm planning on avoiding like the plauge Image IPB Thanks though!

If Steve and James got together as a contingency to Shepard romancing someone else or the VS, I wouldn't mind it. I have nothing against it, in fact I think it'd be pretty cure, but Femshep wants a slice of Vega-steak.

Thanks for posting that! I noticed that on twitter awhile ago as well.

The comment though on "Making a human male exciting in a galaxy full of aliens has it's challenges." confuses me.

Is it really that hard to make a character that can potentially out shine or is equal to some of the Alien squadmates? Why do we need to compare the human male squadmates to the alien squadmates to determine if they are awesome or not?

Maybe he just meant that because with the aliens they have all these varied appearances and customs that are so different from humans, that to make a unique human character is a challenge when lined up with a bunch of totally different species. Either way, it's very exciting to see how pleased a lot of the devs seem to be with Vega's writing and appearance Image IPB Cannot wait for Jan to come around to get my first taste of James! Will make the wait for March even more unbearable...but still yay!

The important part is that he's aware that Vega needs to be interesting. So that's a good sign.

As for Vega/Steve; they do seem to know each and all, so it would make sense.

It's not just a human character. But a male human character. Females tend to be a bit easier because there is a lot of things that appeal - Catsuits, broken bird, badass girl with a gun, etc. You get the point - some tropes of females haven't been done nearly as often as male protagonists. And in terms of character arc, it's insanely difficult to create a male character who can have a deep story. Because...lets face it... there are certain things that people find accecptable for a female to act but not for a guy. Would Carth be called whiny nearly as much then if he was a woman? Would Miranda be remotely liked if she was a guy? Unfortunatly, a guy can't be sensitive and liked in society - hence why the writers wrote Jacob the way they did which in the end, back-fired. Kaidan nearly got it right but he gets called boring very often. The only character (who is a human male and a romance interest) that I rarely see get bashed is actually Alistair. Bioware did right by making him just a goof rather then trying to make him sort of badass. And then his romance...dear God...probably the best written male romance. Terribly sweet and flowed perfectly.

Alistair isn't just a goof though. He is naive about a lot of things in the world, charming, witty, and strangely adorable. He's kind of the perfect fictional man.

Alistair and Morrigan are pretty much the only reason I even liked Origins. I'm not a fan of the game, to be honest, but they're so awesome I just play it repeatedly to hear them again. Oh, and Shale! Shale too! Thank God for the ability to mod Alistair on the PC version to make gay. <3

Now I'm curious who this Steve fellow is, too. But I'm trying to avoid too many spoilers, so I guess I'll see in January or March. :)
I think it would be great to see who hooks up with who, if Shep is not interested, but yes, too many couples might not be a good idea. Oh well, it'll be interesting to see which characters Bioware is going to choose.

The one thing that put me off Alistair's romance was when he starts saying "something I can do for you, my dear?" in this slightly smug tone of voice.

The only people I know who call each other "dear" are 80 years old.

James Vega seems pretty cool so far, here's hoping he lives up to the hype. :)

As long as James Vega is more interesting than Tali (shouldn't be any harder than dumping in some characterization), my BroShep is going to do Jersey Shore 2.0 with him on the Normandy. And my FemSheps are going to try and drag him into a foursome with Miranda and Thane.
