Shepard can 'pick up Grunt' if you save him as he's falling into the collector pit after destroying the HR.
Anyway, I personally think Vega looks like a baws. Lol, the BSN is never happy with anything ever, that's why I love to hate this place.

I think it's the suicide mission. When the platforms start to fall and you have Grunt in your squad Shep very easily picks him up. Well.. maybe not very easily.

CBA to form this sentence to make sense (I'm still sleepy), but you get what I mean.

Im willing to give his charachter a chance, i am glad he actualy looks like marine then another model. If he will be something like Tychus was in SCII i will be more then happy.
