I'm finding that many Vega haters are turning out to be elitists in disguise. They fall in the category of "I've played ME from the beginning and anyone who hasn't needs to deal with it or get screwed over somehow."

It's quite irritating. Many people seem to think Vega is automatically taking face-time away from their favorite character, but there's no guarantee that their beloved character is getting less screen time because of James. BW already said squadmates will work differently this time.

I assume that there will be dialogue options when talking to James where one can choose to elicit more info like in ME2. For example, in ME2, you can say you've never heard of Cerberus, and Jacob can fill you in a little more, or you can choose one of the "already ran into them options" on the other side of the wheel and move along.

I don't think BW is going to force long, drawn out conversations on the players like people are afraid of.

So far most of the hate is based on assumption and speculation. People have devised elaborate ideas about exactly what Vega's character will be based on a small blurb in Game Informer and 2 pictures.
Some people do not understand that line of thought. To them the hatred is irrational. The mental process being used to come to their conclusions lacks clarity and coherence.

My male-sheps are all straight, because I'm a straight dude, and I have six male shep saves all with a different lady (well two of them are with Liara but that's a given?) so this isn't a defense out of an attraction for the character in a sexual manner.

The sad fact of the manner is to many people are judging him by his look. He looks like an in shape space marine yes, but you are assuming that means his look is going to mark his entire personality. That he is going to be some type of meat head, honestly I'm not sure where you're getting that idea as 1) We have not yet heard him speak unless he is the british guy in the first trailer and 2) We know nothing of his back story, he could be a deep emotional character if you don't choose him as a love interest for your fem-shep or male-shep, he could be a great ally and good friend to shepard. So I think it's a bit premature to assume he is going to be a bad character.

Not everyone likes Kaiden, Jacob, or Ashley...I tend to like all of the ME characters in their own unique ways. But the thing is that these games are about humanity making its way in a universe that doubts them, being the hope for the galaxy against the reapers is a monumental task. So to me it makes sense that there is another human character, because in this case, especially, humans are the main focus of the story.

So I'm asking all Mass Effect fans to trust in Bioware. Trust that they know what they are doing. Their writers are good at giving you a reason to like or hate a character. Think about it, you don't just hate a character in a Bioware game because they are bland, you hate them because they are written so well that the writing either makes you hate them or love them, despise them or feel for them.

And no this isn't butt-kissing Bioware, this is me asking fellow ME fans to give Vega a chance before making a crap load of presumptions that probably aren't even true.

I've known more nerdy douchebags than jock ones.  in fact I know more jocks who are nicer than nerds.  Looks can be deceiving.. 

If you call someone a douchebag based solely on how they look, then you my friend are the douchebag.  (not you mesina)
