And though I don't know much about him, I am already starting to fall madly in love with Vega, partially thanks to you guys.

I usually try to not use the same squad over and over and use various companions based on the situation.
For example, in the first Mass Effect I'd always use Wrex/Ashley and Tali when boarding any space vessels. Tali's a tech expert and logically will be needed on board a ship, especially since she's a Quarian. Wrex and Ashley would've been used as closed quarters squadmembers focusing on shotguns since I don't expect roving fields of grass on a freighter to offer me cover for my sniper rifle or assault rifle. And likely in ME3 I'll be using Vega, Ashley or Kaiden as my Alliance expert whenever we come across an Alliance-related section of the story(Earth)
I can't say I really have a problem with this Vega character. He's armed and he's equipped with decent armor to my knowledge, that's good enough for me to include him in my squad whenever the situation calls for it. It'll also be nice not to have Ashley/Kaiden as my only Alliance squadmate, Kaiden's reminds me too much of Carth from KOTOR and his biotic powers irk me(I don't like biotics much, sue me) while several of my characters have relationships with Ashley that could threaten the mission by either having her betray me for cheating on her with Tali or force me to choose her over another one of my squadmates in case another Vimire takes place. Vega's my scapegoat, the usual grunt I'd like to have with me in combat who I could dispose of without remorse because as a soldier he is expendable.
Relationship wise, there isn't. I'm keeping him as my scapegoat and expendable wind-up soldier, not my boy-toy.
That's harsh.
Besides, EVERYONE is expendable.
Yeah, but then you have a list of who'd you like to kill off if it came down to it. Vega's at the top, I expect the same relationship I had with Kaiden as my MShep. Talk to him once or twice, equip him with some decent equipment and use him when nessacary. And with Kaiden dead on Vimire and Vega stepping into Kaiden's shoes as the Alliance Soldier guy it goes without saying he'll probably suffer the same fate as Kaiden if it comes down to it. I'm usually Paragon so I'll try to keep him alive but if needed, I consider him expendable.
I don't even know where to begin here. Just another example of people basing their like for characters or people based on their looks. Kaiden is actually a really cool character, and biotics are fun, out of the 8 shepards i have, two of them are vanguards and one is an adept. Kaiden is nothing like Carth at all from KOTOR, Carth was a go getter, a man of action, Kaiden is more rigid, an alliance soldier through and through, not willing to compromise his principles as he can't accept that you're working with Cerberus in ME 2 (if you didn't save him on virmire, obviously) Carth Onasi is more of a go getter, do what is neccessary to win, and while still honorable, still gives you the benefit of the doubt when he finds out you used to be Darth Revan, while Kaiden can't accept that you're part of Cerberus.
So just because they have the same voice actor, the incredible Ralph Sbarge...doesn't mean you can even remotely say they are anything alike.

It's just that I don't like biotics since I perfer a gun over telekinesis. And everytime Kaiden even mumbles a word I think back to KOTOR's Carth. Not because they have similar personalities, Carth was a constant downer to me. It's just my opinion that I don't like him much either, maybe because as an alliance soldier I don't see much character development between him and my Shepard Commander and to me isn't as interesting as other companions. To me, he's just like Jacob in Mass Effect 2; Another grunt who I'm quick to consider as expendable. Maybe in ME3 they'll focus more on him since he's coming back as a companion but I can't say I'll be able to experience this since none of my characters kept him alive during Vimire.

Anybody actually HOPING that Vega is the m/m romance option? I kind of am and not because I find him good looking, but because I think it would add an interesting amount of depth to him and his "dudebro" (is that what they call it?) look. Ha, ha!

Yup, that's me, right there with you. I wouldn't say no to a little "alone" time with Vega... He and my manShep could get to know each other better.... <3

As long as he doesn't wear a red shirt, he will be fine.
