Casey Hudson just answered a question about Vega. He calls him a "younger Commander Shepard." That's kind of too vague. D:

Hmm. Sounds interesting.

I'm just finishing Firefly and Adam Baldwin would make Vega my permament squadmate. What's with the cats anyway? Is Vega confirmed cats lover?

I hope he's gay, cause my FShep could use a guy to watch musicals with.

But seriously, I hope this guy will be ANY fun, now that Mordin is gone and you can't expect more than some badass talk from Garrus/Ash, and Liara and Kaidan have both swallowed broomsticks.

Recently I lost some faith in BioWare's writing, but never in character creation, so I'm very eager to interact with JV (although his name is kinda generic, just like Jacob Taylor). For the moment I expect that he will be intimidating and tough guy on the exterior and in the field, but aboard the Normandy and outside his armor we will see the softer side of the man. Just a wild guess.

Really, we have more than enough badassess in the series, and Thane was a bit too much sensitive and *cough* dying to fill in that niche.

On the other side, JV looks like an ape to me. His design, imho, is terrible. I don't mind getting a huge, hulking dude on the team, but his face is screaming "I'm a stupid jock". This could be (and I think it IS) a part of a "don't judge a book by it's cover" twist, but srsly, the artist could make a better face.

All of the ME characters (maybe except for Kaidan at first - cause he makes up for it with his personality - and the new Ash) have that blink of genius in their design that makes me wonder how many versions of the character have been rejected before approving the final concept.Mordin has his battle scars and slightly unsymmetrical armor. Garrus manages to scream 'badass' from a mile away without using the obvious black/red/orange pattern. The list could go on.
Vega, on the other hand, looks like an early concept to me. His armor is dull. A visor is neither cool or fresh. His casual clothes are generic too. Nothing in his looks catches my attention. The caption under his character could be "Human Mercenary" or "Human Soldier" and I wouldn't suspect that it is, in fact, a squadmate. If it were not for his mohawk, nothing would be even a tiny bit unusual in him.

Just by comparison - I would never write "Human Mercenary" under Zaeed concept art, although Zaeed is one.

Vega needs to be voiced by Sean Bean.

If that happens, the Vega hate will do a free fall. ;)

Also, Vega will sacrifice himself and become the avatar of Akatosh, destroying all the Reapers in sight and bringing peace back into the universe!

Sorry for the spoilers.

I approve of Sean Bean as his voice. Commanding, powerful and Yorkshire accent. Yes. This should happen. :)

Hey, another bro to join in on the road trips to Omega lol

Hoping to see how he turns out. Here´s hoping that he´s the human equivalent of Grunt physically, with a personality close to Zaeed´s (although not too close).

As to his face, my guess is that we might be looking at Miranda v2.0 , in the sense that his face might be changed for his voice actor, if he´s some big time actor.

P.S. Anyone else find it interesting that Casey Hudson stated that Vega has actually received more positive comments than any other previous character reveal? I guess the angry ones are just a very vocal minority...

Seriously?  I'm shocked... the poor guy seems almost universally hated.  Which sucks,  he hasn't even had a chance to really meet him and everyone's judging the poor guy.

Vega is a soldier and appeals to some while not to others. Jack on the other hand. Can't imagine many being positive to her unveiling.

Agreed, I wasn't around here when ME2 stuff was being revealed, but I heard Thane was really popular pre-ME2

He also may be interpreting negativity as a positive thing. When you only have positive things about a character then he might venture into boredom. With a character that has such a mixed response based solely on appearance, you have the chance to really turn that into something interesting and deep when creating a personality and background. I would say that if a character is liked overwhelmingly without any haters then you failed in making a character since nobody is liked by everyone

Maybe, but don't you think he would of said there has been the hugest response to a character we've ever had in that case?

He specifically said that Vega has had the largest and most positive response from the gamer community of any other character reveal before, buy yes, I'm wondering how true it is. It was during the question about Vega on the third day of the demo, I believe.

I think Casey wanted a character that would generate a strong response, one way or the other. If everyone universally loved Vega, he might be considered by the writers to be a boring character. Vega needs to stand out, especially considering the fact that he's new and will be judged in comparison to all of the other established characters. The fan reaction to him is a very good thing....loved or hated, he is interesting and that may be what Casey was looking for.

Now all he needs is a great voice actor and a strong definite personality and the character will be complete.
