What if they lied to us?

My reaction if Bioware confirmed Vega has the same voice as the guy in the ME3 trailers:

@ACWolfe: interesting theory, but there's some points which doesn't look smooth to me:

- Big Ben's marking on neck. Looks like dirt to me - Vega's tattoo is far more detailed, and from that angle larger part of tattoo should be visible.

- numbers. Right now I'm looking at alt. appearance picture and see "S1" at Ashley. Now I'm switching at James in casual outfit and see SF-03. How important they really are?

- album cover... sorry it was referenced before VGA? I must have missed it. Now the connection of this album to Vega is as clear to me as meaning of copper marigolds.

- Sanders. This name might be thrown to magazines, but throwing it to cover character called "Vega"? Strange. Yes, Vega makes instant connection with star, Street Fighter and maybe some ethnic things, but it's not instant major revelation which should be covered. On the other hand, "Sanders", if it was real surname, would be instant revelation for connection with Kahlee, so it's either really attractive bait or very clumsy placeholder.

- entire "Vega is the sniper sitting in Big Ben". It was told, if memory serves well, that James would be available early. ME3 starts in Vancouver with Shepard's major departure, sniper in trailer says "two million deads in a first day, <...> in a first week" - so he's sitting there for a week and Shepard likely left Solar system already. So Vega recruitment would be delayed until Shepard would gather forces and go to retake Earth? Sounds not "early" to me.

First off apologies are in order if I screw up on this comment as I am doing this via cellphone. But they talked of a dlc only squadmate PLEASE tell me that is the varren and not James Vega!

I'd be surprised if it was Vega. I'm not the guy to ask since I don't know. But I'd be surprised if Bioware was like, "here's this awesome new character that's we're going to talk about, and he's part of your crew OH WAIT WE'RE HOLDING HIM HOSTAGE"

@ACWolfe: I'm sorry, but I don't see some of the connections that you do. I don't think he'll be a James Bond type of character. He was touted as a soldier, like Ashley only with different specs than her so that they wouldn't feel like the same character.

I think the Clash was a clue about London and not Vega. He was called Sanders before that. I just think someone at Bioware likes the name Sanders, and then they changed it because of all the Kahlee speculation.

As others have said, Bioware dismissed the Big Ben is Vega theory a long time ago. However, in a recent interview they did say they might do something with Big Ben since he's gotten a lot of attention.

Sorry to rain on your theories, but I think you might be stretching a bit to get those.

No. Vega is in the vanilla game. He's not DLC. What made you think this?

Can't quite remember, I remember something about a dlc squadmate and his picture was under it.

Oh. Maybe it was the alternate armor dlc.

There was speculation awhile ago that we were getting a Prothean squadmate based off of a poorly worded pre-order ad from Best Buy. Some people still cling to it; I just think that was a prothean focused dlc with a new squaddie like Kasumi or Zaeed were (but not prothean!).

Yes, it was content of CE, DLC "Prothean" (adventure/character) listed in contents and alternate appearances pictured below (Vega and T'Soni). And I strongly doubt Vega is DLC char because DLC appearance for DLC character is a bit too much.

Besides, Prothy the Prothean is DLC squadmate.

Yeah, it's weird we know nothing about the guy. Wasn't there a bunch of info on the new characters when Mass Effect 2 was this close to release?

I don't know, I wasn't here. I've read some weeks ago that we would get some new Vega information "soon", and yet... nothing.

Frankly, I'd rather not know. I said this earlier on the s/s thread. I'd prefer to be surprised on the first playthrough. It was more than a little disappointing when I fired up DA2 for the first time knowing just about everything about every party member.

The Varric thread suffered a lot about it, I suppose. We discussed so much about how Varric was awesome before te launching that when we played the game and Varric was awesome we didn't had much more to talk.

I'd still like some footage, if only to hear his voice.

@Mineralica Haha yeah go tan blondes with tattoo's! (It's funny 'cause IRL I'm tan dirty blonde and just got my first tattoo last Sunday) My character's name is Kael (I want DA2 so bad!)

@Dhiro I see him as that as well as your 'naive wholesome boy next door' type. I just hope they balance that out with a strong manly personality too;). I'd hate to romance a wimp <_<

Well, to be fair, the game is still 7 months away. I don't think they'll be releasing info too soon. (And I'm glad it's not trickling like DA2. I too spoiled that game for myself.)

I figure if I focus on Vega everything else will be big shock and awe~

... oooorrrr ... after I hear the VA I'll vanish into the darkness of ignorance lol
