If Vega is supposed to remind us of Shepard when (s)he was younger, at least I remember a dev saying that, maybe this "Fehl Incident" (I think that was what it was called) will change depending on what background (Ruthless, War Hero, Sole Survivor) your Shepard has.

Not sure if it's posted already, but there's a comic about James Vega out. Mass Effect Conviction. Explains how he got on board the Normandy. I liked it, it's interesting. And the art isn't too bad, considering DH's standards.

Since it's free, I suppose it's okay to download link it. If it's not, well... too bad.

If this is real, then Vega is the Ultimate badass! :o

EDIT: Nevermind. Saw the posts above me.

Ya, about that ...

... where is Fehl again? O_o I'd like to say it's a colony, but considering the past names *Eden Prime, Horizon, Freedom's Progress, Ferris Fields* I don't think so ...

And Vega's a crazy SOB.
I like 'im even more! :D lol

He grapples a Batarian right out of a second-story window.

James Vega just might give Zaeed a run for his money in HARDCORE BAD-ASSERY.

And then starts beating batarians with said appliance? Hells yes!

I guess you could say the batarians actions are being ...

Interesting. TBH though it's hard to get a hold on his personality without a voice. But considering that he's a gambler, he might be a mix of the scoundrel and soldier archetypes. Which confuses me; he's not supposed to know about the seedy underworld...yet...there he is. In a seedy club. That should quash fears of him being outright dumb.

The way he threw himself though...definite setup for some sort of romantic interaction as he'll be guarding Shep. I think we're going to see some sort of "broken hero" in Vega. It's not something Bioware uses for the leading male - more often used in their females. Carth, Alistair, Kaidan, Jacob and Varric. Carth is the only one who comes anywhere close to a broken character that the player needs to fix. Then Obsidian gets a hold of him and breaks him even more in a FemPlayer plot.

But then Carth gets called a whiner.

After reading the comic, I reached a conclusion:

I want to have Vega's adopted babies.

Yeah.  I don't see this comic changing Vega's underdog status much.  But that's fine with me.  Bioware designs their characters to appeal to different groups of fans.  It certainly isn't realistic to expect a character to be universally liked.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Vega in game as March steadily approaches.

I adore the "broken hero" thing. That's one of the reasons I liked Carth so much. Shame no one could appreciate that.

Though, in comparison, Carth looks more... fragile than Vega, for lack of better word. In a "my life is f*cked up" sort of way, I mean... it's hard to say right now. I think Bioware is trying to make him a interesting character to balance the fact that he's there to help newcomers, and I fully support it.

I just read the comic myself. I still hate his hair, but my interest has gone way up. He kind of reminds me of Bucky in between his time as Winter Soldier and Cap: lost, but with a kernel of idealism and potential he isn't living up to. I can very much see myself romancing him. And this is from someone convinced she'd hate him.

I almost didn't noticed his hair. I think I'm getting used to it, like I got used to Jack's tattoos.

Looks like there's no better way to make a character liked than show him beating a bunch of Batarians to bloody bits.

Yes, "why so much batarian hate" thread, I said it.

Read the comic. It is okay (which means it is far better than all the other DH comics) but I do not get why everyone is so worked up over it. :?

But I will be fair and say that him being the person guarding Shepard's cell on the way to Earth is quite interesting. He also seemed to be something of a Shepard fanboy.

Well, it's not the batarian thing for me. It's "man who should be a hero in danger of losing himself" trope.
