Hope not.

While he is as well one of my favourite romance and bromance characters, he is very childish when it comes to being a Grey Warden.

Okay, the word "childish" might be too strong of a word here, but if Vega is like Alistair when it comes to Alliance, I'm not sure I'm gonna like him that much.

How's Alistair childish? And can you really judge him?

I mean Alistair was born and raised up alone. He had no father/mother/mentor. And he lived in the Chantry most of his life. He grew up getting his knuckles wrapped and being scolded all the time.  Plus all he ever heard about was being good and righteous and pious.  He never learned there's a real world outside the Chantry and that world is not black and white.

That's why I said that using the word "childish" is too strong of a word to describe Alistair. And I agree that he was depraved of a normal life and childhood, so not judging him by that. But then again, so have all other companions or most of them in DA:O, so you can't always use that as justification.

And what I mean with him being childish is that his hatred for Loghain comes before then that of being a Grey Warden. Okay, while I can understand his hatred towards him, I just can't understand that hatred leads him to forsake Duncan's memory by turning his back on the blight. That's my biggest problem with the issue. That he just leaves. During the journey through DA:O he keeps on saying that the blight is all that matters and they have to slay the Archdemon no matter what. And he even says in on part that even if he was given the chance to escape Ferelden, he would never do that. I was very surprised that Alistair just decided to leave when I chose to recruite Loghain.

And the term "black and white" you're using is just that that the thing about black and white, is that you don't really have a serious argument for yourself being "white" (morally speaking), if you decide to just leave your country and your people to die like that (which Alistair does). I mean I can understand some people thinking that their idea of "justice" is paramount to anything, even the lives of thousands, but Alistair never struck me as this kind of person.

Hmm, I guess why you see him as childish, but I would say that when Loghain and Anora loses the Landsmeet, they too behave kinda childishly.

Sounds really creative from everyone. Anyone have any fan art of their own custom character that they dream of putting in mass effect 3? If you do post it in the forum of mass effect character push. It´s something I developed to actually make an attempt to catch bioware´s eye. Character appearance and a brief bio and then when i get enough characters, I will do polls so all of us can vote the best character. After that we can make a thread for the winner and try to push that character for bioware to put in .

Loghain's little outburst if he loses wasn't one of his better moments I'll admit, but I don't really feel it was childish. He did think that you and Alistair are just like Cailan that are "children who wants to play war", and are being manipulated by Eamon so he honestly thinks you're going to doom Ferelden. He's wrong but that's not a childish concern.

Anora on the other hand, demands one thing and one thing only: the throne. She may promise support regardless and some might call her a b!tch for not following through on that but she'll do whatever it takes to try and get it. She feels she is the best for Ferelden and has five years of doing what she and many other people feels is a good job so it's not like she has no evidence to back up her claim. Betraying you at the Landsmeet isn't nice but it's hardly childish. Refusing to swear fealty to an untested King who only is on the throne because of a father who never acknowledged him and because you and Eamon like him more than her could be considered childish, I suppose.

But let's not forget that Loghain and Anora did not abandon their people, nor did they turn their backs to the fight in the process.
-------------------------------------------

I still like Alistair very much, but every companion has some bad points.

Er, you expect us to talk only about Vega?

Pretty much every other character thread here talks about other things too than just whom they adore.

Well not exactly, and I'm not saying I disapprove, but would be nice to still keep talking about Vega than DA. (Never played DA so can't really join in the discussions:unsure:)

I could just go and make a thread in Vega's BSN group for off topics and stuff.

I like the idea behind Vega's character. He seems cool. Especially after I read that he used to look up to Shepard. I think at some point Shepard could explain his actions and Vega will look up to him once again.

I don't really like his face (but I think he'd look great if only the distance between his lips and nose was shorter. I'm very picky) but I'm sure I'll end up loving him as I do with most well written characters (and I'm sure he's going to be well written since he's the only new squad member we know about) :D. I'd be a little disapointed if he was bi and the only male character a mShepard could romance (besides Kaidan if he survived Virmire). I think mShepard and femShepard deserve an exclusive s/s romance.

But anyway, I support him and his hair! :D

(I think this is my first post ever so be gentle XD)

"Any fans that were skeptical about James Vega rest assured the guy is BAD ASS!! Mac and his team have done an amazing job with him!!!"

I lost my skepticism after Conviction ^_^

Thinking about Vega and how he formerly idolized Shepard, do you think he'll probably mention your military history? He seems to be one of the easiest characters where it could be brought up without feeling like an old topic and would be interesting to see him deal with real Shepard.

The Butcher of Torfan might not like being idolized.

I hope Vega brings up Shep’s background. It would be a profound missed opportunity if he did not. As for idolizing Shepard, I know my Shep wouldn’t be crazy about it and she’s mostly paragon.

The more I hear about Vega the better I like him and I really hope there is some tension between Shep and him at some point.  It sounds as if Vega may feel betrayed by Shep in some way.  (The destruction of the Batarian system?  Joining Cerberus?) Even if the betrayal is only imagined, it’s still pretty potent.

He'll be voiced by Sam Worthington. Alright, I grudgingly retract my playful spite of James Vega.
